After an initial briefing, where *I* was required to set-up and coordinate the Zoom meeting and inform all participants, I was certainly left non-plussed. We paid for an hour consultation and received just under 40 minutes. At the end of the consultation we were told our case was an "uphill battle." Then, at the END of the meeting, I was informed of a $7,000 retainer fee. I know attorneys will adjust their fee if they don't want your case (ethics?). But to not lead with the retainer fee wasted all our time and my consultation fee. Ms. Thuecks spoke over me, wasn't extremely friendly, and by taking the consultation fee, knowing her "retainer" was cost prohibitive (because if we were filthy rich, I'd already have an attorney) demonstrated what I consider to be unethical behavior. Further, I find it hard to believe that the average person in Appleton has an extra ten grand to lock up on an attorney. Felt really shaky to me. There's an arrogance that comes with professionals that I completely understand - its a result of training, education and experience. However, the assumption that your audience is numb and dumb can't be a standard mode of behavior. As to her performance in the courtroom - I've never seen it, so I won't comment on it. I'm sure she's competent, but there were a few too many "wait, what?" moments to make me comfortable giving her $7k to "use for the case." When you contact her office, ask up front what the retainer fee will be. Compare notes.

Chelsie came highly recommended to me by a trusted person. Now, after she has represented me in court, she would absolutely be the first attorney I'd call if I ever need legal assistance again. I was divorced in 2012. Chelsie's predecessor was initially my lawyer until he retired and then Chelsie took over the case. I "lost" my divorce case big time because I was not informed of everything that was going to be happening (i.e. my lawyer never told me that I didn't have to sign papers during mediation if I didn't agree to it.) When we were setting up child support, my ex husband gave Chelsie a single paystub from when he first started his employment. By time we got divorced, he was working lots of overtime and had gotten multiple raises. He was also a member of the Wisconsin National Guard and never provided any of those paystubs either. Chelsie never once demanded that he provide the last 90 days of paystubs for all forms of employment so I never got the full amount of child support I should have been awarded.

She didn't seem like she wanted to put any effort into my case. Also, her assistant would send me other clients case information on accidentand had done that on multiple occasions. The lack of caring for my case and sending me other clients information made me drop this lawyer.
