RUN! SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND MONEY. My experience with this attorney was extremely disappointing from start to finish. I consistently felt underrepresented while being heavily overbilled.
A perfect example: I was billed more time for him forwarding an email than the Guardian ad Litem billed for writing the entire thing. That wasn't a one-off -- this kind of disproportionate billing happened multiple times and quickly added up.
His Zoom appearances were also incredibly unprofessional. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the camera was pointed up his nose for a large portion of the hearing. The other attorney suit and tie and a nice setup... My attorney the inside of his nose.... The setup looked careless, the appearance was slovenly, and the overall presentation did not inspire confidence -- especially considering for that 15 minute status conference where he ignored my requests, and the judge commented that if the next court date would be similar lets just do it via zoom. That was a >$1000 dollar 15 minute appearance. So, It is my feeling that I had to have been charged for him getting dressed too.
Between the lack of advocacy, the excessive and uneven billing, and the unprofessional virtual presence, I cannot recommend this attorney to anyone. I regret hiring him and I feel he did nothing to help. He made 1 appearance in physical court room for a 15 minute status conference. I dont believe he drafted a single motion, got me yelled at by the commissioner for filing a letter, and for this I was charged ~7k. Do not give him a retainer. I hope others avoid the same experience.

Attorney Zeckel is a highly awarded lawyer who has been practicing law for 40 years.
I have been supported and assisted all along the way through a horrific custody battle, and trust his experience in law practice.
Several award plaques decorate his walls, as he diligently works with his clients to produce results.
We still have some way to go, but his dedication to ensuring clients are taken care of during the litigation process are excellent.
He does not practice lying, he deals in facts and evidence. We have encountered attorneys who prefer to lie their way through court, and with the facts and evidence he is sure to support the Truth will stand in the end.

John Zeckel was referred to me by my Employee Assistance Program at work. He guided me through my divorce proceedings and was understanding with monthly payments after I went through my retainer.

This attorney was completely unprofessional from start to finish. He laid down during my wife's visit in his office. He sent a non-notarized version of our prenup to the other attorney, resulting in the other attorney spending more time trying to get things sent again the correct way. He failed to properly charge my wife's credit card, resulting in an additional call. He raised his voice with me on the phone multiple times, even hanging up on me. He charged a $1100 retainer for reviewing a simple (13 page) prenup, then asked for even more money on the back end! The attorney that drafted the agreement gave us a refund on his already smaller retainer. So apparently attorney Zeckel needs more time to read a document than other attorneys do to create one. Stay FAR AWAY from this guy.
