As a GAL, please seek other counsel immediately for your children's best interest. She was on guardian/custody case on and off for the past 5 years. She was hot and cold from one court date to the next, recommendations went back and forth seemingly with little knowledge of the actual facts. First time around, stated other parent was incapable to have the children but continued to find any reason possible to give the kids to said parent while turning a blind eye to the party actually following every single court order. At final review LIED to the commissioner stating I cleaned houses for a living and my fiance was a plumber (not our professions whatsoever) LIED that fiance has no family support near him (literally had 4 family members living down the street from us and a dozen more within 30 mins.) This GAL on second go round was not concerned other parent refused to get kids into counseling per court order (5 years and not even an intake assessment performed) not concerned kids teachers stated kids should see a counselor and sent list home with them, not concerned other parent refused to take court ordered co-parenting class, not concerned other parent admitted in court to doing drugs after getting the kids last time and refuses to have them drug tested as requested, not concerned other parent has refused for FIVE MONTHS to send childs daily prescription medicine, not concerned children are having repeated behavioral issues in school and have dropped to the 18th - 30th percentile in reading and math, not concerned one kid now has an IEP for expressive communicative disorder. Not concerned other parent has stolen weekend time that was not theirs and purposefully made kids miss the birth of their half-sister. (Didn't get to meet her for 2 weeks) Not concerned other parent refuses to say why kids are taken into the ER. Not concerned the other parent was told by DR to put kid on bedrest for medical condition and instead took them to social events and hotel swimming. Next day other parent sent kid to us for weekly scheduled time without alerting us of DR order. THEN filed FMLA to "stay home and take care of sick kid"...while kid was not with them for the whole week. The list goes on and on and pages and pages of evidence submitted to show proof, but in the end Ms. Seifert will attend court acting like it's no big deal the other parent is in contempt of court for multiple things. She will speak to your kids after they've been with Grandma at her beach house for an entire week on summer break and say wow they were so happy to talk to me and are enjoying summer so everything must be fine regardless of contrary evidence (and the fact that they didn't have to see other parent for the whole week.) She is either following the money trail or extremely incompetent. Had Ms. Seifert actually done due diligence in standing by her initial court requests for drug testing, counseling, or co-parenting class, I would have respect in her choices and decisions. On contrary she has shown it is all fluff to appear like she is working on your case while not having the capability to do so. If you love your children, request someone else. They deserve someone professionally able to stand by their best interests.
