Personal injury lawyer Steve Dashiak was recommended to me by a friend after I was in an accident that unfortunately totaled my car. It never would have crossed my mind to get a personal injury attorney, but when I told my friend about the accident and the severity of it, she suggested I speak to one. Steve was great right off the bat. Before committing to anything or signing any agreements or contracts, he very graciously answered all the questions I had over the course of several weeks, via email and phone. I had never been in an accident this severe, and I really had no idea what I needed to do. While my car insurance team was helpful, it kind of felt bare minimum. Steve suggested I utilize my PIP to take care of the injuries I sustained, and he helped me find locations for massage and PT that were close to me and had good reviews. He also offered to look at the amount that the insurance company offered for my car to make sure they weren't low balling me. He told me what I should bring up and discuss when speaking to my insurance. And that was all before signing any contracts. When it was time to speak to my insurance about the personal injury side of things, I asked Steve if he thought I would benefit from officially using him as my lawyer, or if I would get a similar personal injury payout from insurance without using a lawyer. He explained that most likely, insurance would offer a small settlement, maybe around $500-$1000. But that he was confident I would get more than that if he dealt with the case on my behalf. Before agreeing, I called my insurance agent. I asked how much they thought I would get for personal injury from the other party's insurance. They said, nothing. That there was no personal injury payout other than the reimbursements for my PIP usage at appointments. I signed a contract with Steve after that and let him take over. I figured, even if he could get me $500, it would be better than the nothing being offered by car insurance. Steve kept in touch over the next couple months, keeping me informed about what was happening and asking for additional details or photos when he needed them. It took a little while for him to negotiate the deal, but in the end I received THOUSANDS of dollars! And that was after the reimbursement of my PIP and his legal fees. I'm so grateful that Steve was recommended to me. I feel at ease knowing I could use his services in the future if anything like this ever happens again. Fingers crossed I never have to, but at least I know he'll be there for me. I believe they have an office in Tacoma for those that prefer in person meetings, but I thought calls and emails were sufficient and even more convenient for me. I definitely recommend talking to Steve if you're ever in an accident and could use someone knowledgeable to step in and help.
