Jamestown Settlement

An incredible historical experience brought to life! Jamestown Settlement is an absolutely fascinating place to visit. The combination of immersive outdoor exhibits, life-size recreations, and knowledgeable interpreters truly brings early American history to life. The reconstructed fort, Powhatan village, and full-sized ships offer a hands-on experience that is both educational and unforgettable. The museum exhibits are beautifully designed, engaging, and full of rich historical detail. The staff is friendly, passionate, and always willing to share insights that make the visit even more meaningful. The entire site is clean, well-organized, and perfect for families, history lovers, and anyone curious about the origins of America. A must-visit landmark in Williamsburg -- one of the best living-history experiences you can find! Highly recommend spending a few hours here to truly appreciate the story of Jamestown.

This review is for the Winter Lantern Festival specifically. Which was AWESOME!!! The pictures say a lot but not enough. This was clearly someone's well thought out passion project and it shows! We drove an hour from Norfolk and it was worth it and the cost (which was very reasonable). Our entire family had a great time. The acrobatics program was VERY impressive and their hard work showed in the quality of their skills! The lantern displays were gorgeous to say the least. So many, such a huge variety and really intricate work in every piece. The zodiac display, the terracotta soldiers, Wukong, I mean THERE'S SO MANY AND SO MANY MORE!!! Look....go...take your kids or make a date of it. It's brilliant.

I remember coming to Jamestown Settlement as a little girl on a field trip, and now I get to experience it again through the eyes of my own students. It's truly come full circle. This is such an incredible place for hands on learning my students love exploring the Powhatan village, the replica ships, and the English fort. There's so much history packed into one place, and Jamestown Settlement does an amazing job bringing it to life in a way that kids (and adults!) can really understand and appreciate. Every time I visit, I'm reminded why it's such an important part of Virginia's story. Highly recommend for families, teachers, and anyone who enjoys interactive and meaningful learning experiences.

I had a wonderful time visiting Jamestown Settlement. The entire experience felt both educational and fun. The indoor museum is well put-together with clear displays and stories that helped me understand the history better. The outdoor re-creations were my favorite part -- walking through the Powhatan village, the English fort, and the ships made it feel like stepping back in time. The staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with questions. You can tell they care about the history and enjoy sharing it. Everything was clean, organized, and easy to explore. Overall, Jamestown Settlement is a great place for families, kids, and anyone who enjoys learning about the past. I highly recommend it!

Beautifully crafted and well-versed staff with a phenomenal experience of where everything started and how history effects are every day Lives. You don't have to be a history buff to come here to explore. well worth taking in the past so we can help understand the future. Especially enjoyed the recreation of buildings Otterson tools must get firing and in-depth knowledge of characters and staff on premises. Cheers.
