Having Mr Gately in your corner during the MEB/PEB/VA process is a must. My husband and I were both active duty and got sick around the same time with autoimmune conditions. I was faced with the possibility of a medical retirement due to the creation of an ostomy following a medical emergency, and contacted him with the intention of obtaining a return to duty determination. To lay the scene of the process, military waiver guides are hesitant about the waiverability of ostomies for aviators. During his free consultation, Mr. Gately patiently listened to my story, reviewed thousands of pages of hospital records, and came to the determination that my intention of a return to duty finding by the board was both realistic and doable. Charging a very reasonable flat fee, over the course of months his meticulous attention to detail helped to create a case that was hard to find any flaws in, which all came to fruition after an in-person hearing at the Formal Physical Evaluation Board, when they found that I was fit for service and returned to duty. Moreover, Mr. Gately continued to aid me in my military medical journey, providing advice and input on my flying waiver, which again proved invaluable as I was returned to flying status as the second Air Force pilot with an ostomy in history.
