I had an unemployment issue and went down to the office and I had an attorney call me. She made the filing process so easy and always kept good communication with me. I highly recommend legal aid.

My reply email to a lawyer that did this to me. Please ALL BIPOC VT'S LETS MOVE OUT OF HERE. THEY DON'T WANT US CAUSE THEY CAN'T EVEN LISTEN OR RESPECT US ENOUGH TO TRY. SO LETS GO AND TAKE OUR MONEY ELSE WHERE. Ms Sayles, I think you forgot the kind of person I am. I am prompted to do this after seeing you turn you nose up at me my work like it was a proper fail and your degree won't excuse you here. 1 You forget how much over income I am for anything you listed here. If I was a desperate person and followed your advise. I would have be met with repeated denials. Should I have a weaker constitution would you have shown up to my wake. That's a real question you should sit and just reflect on it. Because alot of VT's are about to be homeless and I have talked down a few from such treatment. 2 I am not new to court housing or other wise. You can call up Matthew Heart (Rutland) and ask him your self what I am capable of. I stated that before and your tone here is as if I don't know dispite our over and hr long conversation along with notes you took about me. I am slighted and offended you didn't even need this email. You made it super clear multiple times your not representing me and can not advise me. Then why talk down to me ? 3 What you did during our 1st and over an hr time phone call was ignore, brow beat and undermind me utterly. Your clear attempt to propel me to just accept and be homeless is deplorable. You actually advised me to look for another place and hord my money cause the judge could (on the hearing date) kick me out and authorize a P.O.W. on the spot. Welp shocker I followed MY plan and wouldn't you know it worked. While I am sure we are both content to have met let's not ever do this again. I wouldn't recommend Legal Aid VT Under Any Circumstances. The ignored BIPOC of VT
I wish I could give no stars, as an African American single mother living in Vermont this is not a place that help us! I have been discriminated against, lied on,railroaded and so on and it doesn't stop! I have been dealing with a HANDY for approximately 3 years and change and it's been nothing but hell on wheels and nobody seems to understand because why, the Handys own half of Vermont and they get to treat people however they want. Specifically because Vermont gives them the power to treat people however they want. But what they don't know is, advocating for myself and my child is when I stand on business. I could've been anything in this world but I'm constantly facing nothing but racism in this state. I hope to someday speak for myself and others that Vermont legal aid don't help. If I can be spacific I would but the one thing I want legal aid to know is that their is power in words, I don't need a penny to show ill intentions. I probably could have been a better lawyer than Bradley. He is rude unethical and have no skills when it comes to racism. The best thing he could do was tell me he was closing my case, why I don't know. But if u are African American and need help, don't look at legal aid. They will make u feel like a penny and that might be given them to much credit. Lastly as long as ago got the higher power in this corrupt world, I'll always win. Legal aid look down on us, but if I was a Ashley I probably wouldn't even be writing this! It's not what u do it's how u do it.
Worthless.. don't ask 4 help because all u gat is a generic text telling you that they can't help u, but Here's a list of people that will gladly charge u ridiculous amount of money we know u can't afford..and will not help no matter what!! But we'll take ur 150$ anyway.. because we spoke 4 3 minutes
It's taken me a year to write this review, but the people at legal aid are wonderful, supportive and are there with you until the end. Olivia in particular was a godsend for me when I was dealing with court stuff with my ex. She was very informative, she walked me through everything and never let me feel intimidated by my psycho ex. After everything was done she still called to check in a few weeks later and gave me more advice. They are great people. There was another woman who helped us and I can't remember her name unfortunately but she also was a pusher and didn't let my ex get away with things in court and she also helped me through the logistics of custody after the fact. Don't be scared to reach out and ask for help. I wouldn't be where I am if I hadn't took the first step to meeting them
