Client
I would give Zabrieskie Law Firm zero stars if I could. This law firm demonstrated a complete lack of care for their clients and exhibited serious negligence in handling our case. We initially hired them for a criminal trial, and they negotiated an abeyance agreement. We complied with all the terms of the abeyance. However, at the end of the abeyance period, the firm failed to take the necessary steps to have it closed out, despite claiming that this was covered under the initial retainer. They did not contact us at all during the abeyance period. Ten months later, we received an email informing us that an order to show cause had been issued because the abeyance was never closed. We were told we were now in violation of the original agreement - a situation that would not have occurred if the firm had fulfilled its initial obligation. They then demanded an additional $1,000 retainer to represent us in this new matter, which was a direct result of their negligence. It took five months of persistent communication attempts to get the firm to take any action on the case. Furthermore, during this period, secretaries and paralegals made unprofessional and damaging statements to us, claiming we were guilty and citing inadmissible evidence. This behavior was completely inappropriate and undermined any sense of trust in their representation. Communication with this firm was consistently poor. They appear to take on too many clients, resulting in delayed responses and a lack of clear explanations. They also seemed to lack proactive communication with the prosecutor, hindering progress on our case. We frequently had to "bug" them to get them to do anything. When we attempted to follow up, they accused us of being annoying and blocked our calls and texts. This is unacceptable behavior when clients are facing the stress and anxiety of criminal charges and are paying for representation. Zabrieskie Law Firm failed to make us a priority and did not provide the support and reassurance we expected from our legal representation. I strongly advise against hiring this firm. Seek representation elsewhere, where you will be treated as a priority and receive competent and attentive service, instead of being exploited for money.
