I have been in a 6 plus year custody battle that is very complexed and complicated. There are 3 joint managing conservators. So you know my background with attorneys. I have dealt with Sheila Shea, John Nix, Britton Brooks, Linzie Rossler, and Joe Neal Smith. I have nothing bad to say about any of these attorneys and are thankful for the part they played in our custody battle. They are all capable and good attorneys as why we hired them. However Joe Neal Smith is my favorite. He was able to mediate quickly and effectively in my most recent custody case. He told me what I needed to hear and didn't over sell it. He was upfront and grounded. He is experienced and that showed! He was willing to do whatever I wanted, but helped me see what needed to be done and how to do it. Recently, I went back to court to collect money owed. I self represented as well as one of the other party. Not sure how exactly it happened but it did, the opposing attorney was not cooperating in my opinion as the judge had directed us. Joe shows up and stepped in and got my order pushed through. Let me be clear the only reason I didn't hire Joe for this case was because I wasn't going to pay any attorney $4k to try to collect 8k that even if I won there was no guarantee I would ever see the money. However Joe cares about you and showed that. I was able to win and get compensated. This was mainly due to Joe stepping in on his time and helping out. Joe thank you will never be enough!

Hiring Joe Smith was one of the biggest mistakes I've made during my custody battle. At the time, I had already been fighting for my daughter for a year and a half. Desperate for help, I put my vehicle on the line and took out a title loan just to afford his services. Joe represented me for about four months--if you can even call it representation. While plenty of paperwork was filed, there were no actual changes or improvements in my situation. He filed for an emergency hearing, but when the opposing party submitted a last-minute affidavit full of hearsay and lies, Joe abruptly withdrew from my case without even notifying me. His excuse? That he thought I wasn't communicating with him efficiently or being truthful. To make matters worse, the Judge in Fannin County ignored proper protocol and signed his withdrawal the very next day. Joe then asked for an additional $1,500 "for the work he had done." My boyfriend paid him this amount in hopes that he might reconsider representing me in the future. I called and emailed his office every single day, only to be told that he needed time to "think about" possibly taking my case back. A full week went by--precious time wasted--before he finally emailed me, claiming he truly believed I lied to him and stating he would not represent me going forward. Because of his withdrawal, my emergency hearing was delayed, then pushed forward without me having time to secure new representation. I filed for a continuance on my own, asking for more time to get an attorney, but that request was denied. I walked into that courtroom completely blindsided and railroaded by the other party. The outcome? I now have supervised visits with my daughter, and my situation is far worse than it ever was before I hired Joe Smith. If you value your family, your money, and your peace of mind, do not hire Joe Smith. He took thousands of dollars, withdrew at the worst possible moment, and left me in a far worse position than when I started.

If you're looking for someone to go above and beyond for you at a reasonable price, then Joe Smith is your guy. You won't regret it!

Be careful who you hire! Between no communication the whole time he represented my brother and the time of my brother's death while incarcerated we still have yet to hear from him. Not even a phone call something about everyone in this town giving us the run around doesn't sit well with me. No one will answer the phone. I'm sure this was the easiest 5,000 you ever made!

Joe Neil is not a person who will b.s. you and he will not sugar coat the facts but what he will do is let you know all of your options and help you choose the right one. He is a likable person by the courts and and knows the law well. He is confident in his practice and will use him for future needs.
