Don't let this man represent your children! Ty Groat was assigned the amicus attorney for my son during a custody battle but seemed more interested in taking our money than actually representing the best interest of my son, as was his assigned duty. He will start off seeming genuinely interested in your case, but will do very little to actually help. When I expressed concern for my son's living arrangements, it took nearly a month of begging by myself and my attorney to get him to conduct an unannounced home visit. When he finally began expressing interest in doing so, he called me to ask for my ex's address and work schedule (information he should have already known) and billed me for it! Then he decided to leak the information of his visit to the opposing counsel, giving my ex time to clean up the violations. When he finally did conduct the home visit, nearly three weeks later, Ty found someone living in the home in violation of the court order, but did nothing. It took my ex admitting to the violation on the stand for the violation to come out. Furthermore, not once did Ty Groat ever speak with my son's counselor despite there being out cries and evidence of abuse by her. He had multiple opportunities and hearings to do so, but elected not to. He met numerous times behind closed doors at the courthouse with my ex, but never with us. He acted as though he was her second lawyer. We were thankfully awarded custody, but not because of this man! Mr. Groat couldn't even take the time to sign the final order. In fact, my lawyer had to send a letter to the judge compelling him to sign because Ty was too busy to be troubled to sign a document. Steer clear of this lawyer, he's only out for the money!
