I wish I could give her zero stars. Unfortunately I hired her for a divorce with children in February 2025. As of October 2025 there has been absolutely NO movement in my case. She was incredibly difficult to get a response from, she did very little work if any on my case and I constantly had to reach out to her with questions about the status. I never received invoices and when I finally did they were very inconsistent with my own personal records. She charged me for very erroneous reasons. She made an already hard time for me and my family 10x worse with her lack of professionalism. She simply does not have what it takes to get the job done. I was incredibly embarrassed in court when the judge informed her that she had not properly served the other party. Working with her was a nightmare. Please save yourself and your family the headache of dealing with her. I have since paid another retainer fee to replace her bc my case was stagnant and totally neglected.

I contacted Brittany Gates in November 2024 for an irreconcilable differences divorce. Upon initial contact, she was enthusiastic and I was grateful for her to handle my case. I immediately sent her the $3000 retainer by Venmo. Weeks passed and nothing was done. She initially told me it was the holidays, then her family was sick. She finally got back with me in January. More conversations with no action. She finally told me to pay the filing fees in February! She said the 3k did not include the fees. This was 3 months after I paid her! Eventually, I told her to give me my money back. She said she her fees were non refundable. I gave her another chance because I don't have 3k to throw around. She said my husband would be served shortly. He was never served. I finally had an attorney friend check into the status and as of June 2025, she never filed my case! Another reviewer recalled a similar situation during the same time frame. They believed she was too consumed with her own family. This is undoubtedly the case. She had no assistant to call back and reply to messages whether texts or email. I am currently out 3k plus filing fees. I am turning her into the board of professional responsibility. You utilize her at your own risk of losing your money and wasting your time . Shameful.

Brittany Gates took my case on 12/4/24. Prior to signing a $2000 retainer I asked Ms. Gates if the other party (Petitioner) would be responsible for my attorney fees? She replied, " The award of attorney fees is provided for by statute. If it shown that the allegations did not occur by a preponderance of the evidence, the responding party may be awarded fees." I knew the allegations against me were false so I paid the retainer. The hearing was on 12/9/24. The case against me was dismissed because the petitioner did not prove the evidence in the petition by a preponderance of the evidence. I asked Ms. Gates several times since the hearing if I was going to recoup my attorney fees. She did not provide a response. On 1/28/25 I wrote a final note to Ms. Gates, "I had to hire another attorney to figure out why you are ignoring my communications about the court assessing all court costs, including attorney fees, against the petitioner. The dismissal is attached and you should have brought this to the judge's attention during the hearing. Since you failed to do so, it appears as though I will not be receiving the attorney fees from the petitioner. Your behavior is completely unethical and your lack of communication is inexcusable. I will be writing a public review, and I will also be contacting the attorney who referred me to you to ensure he does not refer you any additional clients." FINALLY a response: 1/28/25 Ms. Gates, "I would ask that you refrain from reviews and allow me to issue a partial reimbursement." 1/31/25 I wrote, "Several days ago you asked that I refrain from reviews and allow you to issue a partial reimbursement. I asked you what you are proposing and now I haven't heard from you again? If you are serious, I expect I'll hear from you today." As of 2/3/25 I still have not received a response from Ms. Gates. Needless to say this was a time consuming and frustrating experience. I only gave her two stars because the case was dismissed - which I knew would happen from the start.

Brittany is amazing to work with. She's helped with a four year custody arrangement. She listens and calmly explains things are going to happen. She truly fights for clients.

Gates Law and I just completed a nearly 2 year long probate case involving over 5 different parties and countless red tape and legal roadblocks.
