I have contacted John Bowles several times for assistance with situations resulting from car wrecks, car towing and landlord tenant issues. Each and every time John promptly returned my phone calls and helped me as best he could. If he was unable to assist me he pointed me in the direction of a lawyer he trusted who would be able to help me. I trust John completely with any law issue and highly recommend him as an attorney.

Gail who I worked with has been like rocky in the ring helping me with a landlord who has been very stressful to get anything out of and if you need help for housing issues she's been nothing but spectacular. John helped my family out when facing an eviction from apparent vindictive landlords. From the word go John and his legal assistant, Gail, were tremendous help. I could not imagine having gone through this ordeal without them. I reviewed John's "pedigree" as it where before I hired him and he did not disappoint. His knowledge and skill are second to none. Gail was a fabulous recourse and always heard me out. I was kept in the loop and nothing slipped past them. We were able to get a favorable resolution and are no longer facing eviction. I retained John in April 2024 to have my tenant evicted from my house in Portland for non-payment of rent. He was quick to take my case and my money, ensuring me that he understood landlord tenant law. He filed a 10 day notice to my tenant incorrectly which I found out a month later from my new lawyer who is an expert in landlord / tenant law. John failed to include a critical and obvious document, resulting in a month long delay of my case. When confronted, John admitted wrongdoing to my new lawyer but quickly went silent and failed to return my retainer and fees associated with my case. He never reached out to me personally for his wrongdoing or to repay me for his erroneous actions. I trusted John to understand landlord/ tenant law and to help me. Unfortunately, he was more concerned about his retainer than ensuring my case was properly prepared and executed. During the course of our conversations when I asked for clarification and had questions, he mentioned that I was taking time away from his other cases and patronizingly accused me of not trusting him. At one point when I had not heard from him, he responded that "his retainer was empty." John is not an expert in landlord tenant law and I strongly advise against hiring him.
