I have so many medical issues, and I was ready to give up. I didn't know how I was going to be able to afford anything in my life, afford my necessary medication, and I was on the cusp of accepting that I was a lost cause. When I say, every single interaction, every detail, every amount of peace they gave me .... it's indescribable. They took me seriously, stayed in contact, didn't "sugarcoat" anything, and most of all they described every process from beginning to end.They were SO kind and SO empathic, they truly understood my troubles. I wouldn't be anywhere without them. I generally spoke with Laurie, Ginny, and April (excuse me if I spelled their names incorrectly). Facing a life changing disability is overwhelming on so many levels for everyone involved. You can be guided through the physical changes and treatments by physicians but they can't offer any support on the financial upheaval. And as much as you may hate to think about that part while dealing with everything else, the fact is, you must. My suggestion is don't try to go it alone. You may, like we did, read the guidelines and think you don't qualify, that you're not disabled "enough", even though you know you can't return to work. You need people with SSDI expertise to help you. Foothills Disability Law was recommended by a family member and we're glad we listened.
