The worst experience I ever had, was hiring Judy Tseng as my lawyer for my custody case . I should've did more research and realize that she does not specialize in custody/family law, but I got her information from using MetLife Legal Plan, which I will never do that again also. When it came to my final hearing for my custody case, I had to keep reaching out to her to go over the case because I felt like she wasn't taking it seriously. Honestly, I should have stopped my services with her at that time, but I went against what I felt and figured I would trust her expertise. Not only did she not speak up for me in the hearing, she did not listen to me when I wanted her to bring things up to the judge. So even when the other party told lies on the stand, she didn't say anything. She told me she thought the judge was going to say something...The case did not end well but I can't go back now and change that unfortunately. I have to move forward and learn from this situation. It would've been much easier for me to represent myself than rely on someone that didn't seem to care about my case. But that's not it. I paid the retainer fee of $4,000 to retain her. The night After my last hearing she billed me for additional $1800 without consulting with me to sign another contract with her. She said she decided to continue to represent me and bill me later without us having a conversation. When I did not pay her the full amount, she sued me. We had to go to court. Surprisingly, when it came to her representing herself, she did much better then when she represented me. The judge ordered me to pay her the $1800 but that's not it, then she file a motion to go after my belongings/property. I have never heard of a lawyer suing an ex-client. So I'm assuming since she doesn't have a lot of clientele she has plenty of time to go after her own previous clients. So if you hire her, I just want you to be aware. You need to make sure to keep a clear understanding of any invoices or how she's billing. So just because you signed a retainer fee that does not mean that she will not continue to go over the retainer fee and bill you later. And she will sue you a few months later if you don't pay fast enough and go after your property. I wish you well if you hire her to represent you. I just want to share my experience, in hopes that nobody else has to experience this nightmare I went through.
