Subin Associates, LLP

"I am writing this review to share my personal experience with Subin Associates regarding a case from my childhood. As an 8-year-old victim with no surviving parent after the age of 12, I was placed in the foster care system and group homes until I turned 18. During that vulnerable time, Subin Associates had the duty and responsibility to represent my interests to the best of their ability. However, when I was eventually located at 18, homeless and living with a friend, I was handed a check of about $6,000 to $7,000 with no explanation of where it came from or how it was calculated. As a young person who had no parental guidance and was essentially an orphan, I feel that Subin Associates did not fulfill their duty to properly represent me or ensure I understood my settlement. I am seeking answers for my 8-year-old self who deserved better advocacy and support. In sharing this, I hope to bring attention to the importance of law firms truly upholding their responsibilities to their most vulnerable clients."

After today's unfortunate conversation with attorney Gene Chertock; I was obligated to post this negative review because it's 100% justifiable. I always remember Gene being arrogant, rude, short and dismissive. Overall, disrespectful and evidently he still is. My late father Richard Gerbino was a client of his and as was I (technically speaking). Of which, Gene made a lot of money from late father and I's cases in the late 90's/early 00's. And so, I naturally remembered him and thought I would reach out all these years later because I have ex amount of legal matters going on as of late and thought I would be able to reach out to Gene regarding them for either representation, referrals or advice. I mentioned that I had been in my first car accident in August and had a slip in fall as of this month, but am currently represented. Gene didn't even ask if I was alright out of common courtesy/decency. But what he did do was remind me that it was "I who called him," when I had initially called him first a month ago regarding certain legal matters. This came after I stated that I was now returning his, phone call. Typical and to be expected passive aggressive attitude that I always remember him having. I ignored it under the circumstances because not only had a Landlord/Tenant inquiry, but I also lost my beloved French Bulldog unexpectedly in September and after her autopsy; "Foul play," etc. was expected after having had it reviewed by my local VEG in Paramus, NJ and they suggested that I contact a medical malpractice attorney that handles veterinary malpractice and specifically because the specialist/animal hospital I had been taking Brie was located in Manhattan, not NJ. And I know that Gene handled personal injury, medical malpractice, etc. And so I immediately thought to contact Gene for obvious reasons. But instead of Gene making me feel welcome to call him, safe, secure and in "Good hands," I felt the absolute complete opposite. It was as if I was causing him an inconvenience by simply even picking up my phone call and "Consulting" (said loosely); with me for the 2 minutes we were on the phone. Which reminded me why I had such a bad taste left in my mouth when it came to him based upon when I had reached out to him in 2015 after my late father had passed away for whatever my reasons were then. It was then that I remembered that I was met with the same kind of overall negative experience after having unfortunately spoken with him. Honestly, knowing my late father and the kind of person he was; how he didn't 100% cut ties with Gene after having retained him is beyond me because my late father wasn't at all the kind of person to tolerate anything along the lines of what Gene projects and neither am I, but I was optimistically hopeful and hoped for the best possible outcome, but no; the actual, complete opposite of that, once again. A decade later, mind you. Overall lack of empathy, sympathy and regard for others and absolutely no compassion at all what so ever.

Very courteous, professional, thorough & transparent. Great team as well. Very apparent why their good name precedes them. My personal experience with them forged a great bond with honesty & professionalism as the bridge. Gracias Subin Associates !! (Son bilingues tambien . I had a very great experience with them overall from the moment I walked into the to the office, to the end of my case, and beyond! They treated me like family I feel they had my best interest at heart. I highly recommend this firm!
