I would not recommend Lederman or his paralegal, Tracy. They were exceptionally incompetent in many ways. - Misrepresented an encroachment to be less than one inch, when in actuality it was 8 inches across the entire property line. Lack of attention to detail on a serious property matter. Very concerning when I have to double check my own lawyer and paralegal. Lederman tried covering (lying) for Tracy when I brought this up over email. To her credit, she admitted to the mistake. He also tried convincing me to leave it alone. I didn't. The home owners got the encroachment resolved upon my insistence. - Did not provide receipts for the house survey, title company, or escrow deposit with until I followed up repeatedly. Lederman said to my wife "Buying a house costs money! There's no way we can provide all receipts and keep up." I'm paying you to do exactly that as my lawyer. - The closing date was unclear and misrepresented, causing me to call out of work 2 days prior to attend it. To be specific, Tracy "forgot" the date was on Monday, and said "she didn't see it on her calendar" despite the contract stating it. We moved it to Wed. - The title company fee included a fee labeled as "optional". I asked Lederman to take it off, and he said he would not otherwise he wouldn't represent me, during closing. Effectively this meant we'd lose our house unless I agreed to this fee. He said "it wasn't actually optional." Sure. - They forgot to ship us our House Documents until 4 months later when I followed up. - Wanted the house escrow deposit to be dropped off with a cashier's check to his office, instead of a bank transfer. We possibly had a one off experience, but would you want a lawyer that lies for his staff, and misses critical details about the home you're buying? EDIT: Notice in his reply that Lederman doesn't refute any of my points besides the changed closing date. Every one of my points I have written communication over emails to confirm where they dropped the ball. The closing did not in fact go smoothly as my wife and I had to review the house survey ourselves to see they misrepresented the property encroachment, and had to address it just one week before closing. Frankly, the fact that he responded without addressing how they misrepresented the encroachment, lack of receipts, "optional" title fee, and forgetting to mail us our documents should tell you enough about his integrity. Additionally, he edited his response twice and took out words like "untruthful" and "vindictive." I have all the receipts over emails.
