We are leaving this review not out of malice or dissatisfaction stemming from personal expense--Mr. Banks' services were paid for by my employer--but out of concern for any future clients who may require competent legal representation in landlord-tenant matters or more serious legal issues. Unfortunately, Mr. Banks demonstrated a clear lack of interest and professionalism in handling our case. Despite multiple attempts to contact him in the days leading up to our court date, he failed to return our calls, leaving us uncertain as to whether he would appear in court at all. Our hearing was scheduled for 8:45 AM; he did not call until 9:15 AM to inform us he was on his way. Upon his late arrival, we attempted to brief him on a payment arrangement we had reached with the landlord via email the previous day. Mr. Banks appeared disengaged and dismissive, refusing to listen and repeatedly walking away while remarking, "Oh, it's going to be easier than I thought, then." During the court proceedings, we were directed by the judge to speak with a mediator. The mediator was clearly confused, became confrontational, and misunderstood the terms of our arrangement. Mr. Banks remained silent, failing to intervene, clarify the situation, or advocate on our behalf--even after we informed him of the details. When the mediator modified the terms and added an additional $2,000 to the balance owed, Mr. Banks expressed more frustration with us than concern over the erroneous change. The reason for his frustration appeared to be the judge's decision to send us back to mediation after we stated we didn't agree to the additional $2,000--which was never owed in the first place. Ultimately, we resolved the matter by negotiating directly with the landlord, as Mr. Banks played no meaningful role in the process. Most troubling was his handling of the final paperwork. After the mediator filled out the documents--riddled with handwritten edits and errors--Mr. Banks hastily signed them without reviewing the contents and passed them over to us for signatures. We indicated that we wished to read them first, but due to the confusion and poor documentation of the mediator, we overlooked the critical mistake of the extra $2,000. In summary, Mr. Banks' inattentiveness and lack of advocacy were both troubling and disappointing. We hope this review helps others make a more informed decision when seeking legal representation.
