Bill Cownie has lost his integrity over the years. I have used Bill four times for various things over the last 23 years. This last time, I recently hired Bill to represent me in a divorce, and it was like working with a completely different person. Bill was hostile, rude, and hung up on me over the telephone for simply asking legal advice (after I retained his services). Bill charged me a flat rate of $1,950 for an uncontested divorce. As soon as my divorce was filed, Bill was pushing myself and the opposing counsel to move my case to a contested divorce and would not listen to what I wanted at all. Also, Bill is really good at sending you argumentative, non-productive emails and then charging you for them. I could see my case going south ALL because of Bill. I hired a new attorney to take over, and Bill, who had hardly done a thing at this point, stated that I had spent my full payment of $1,950 and would get nothing back. The new attorney redid every piece of paper Bill had filed and finished out my case for a total of $1,350. The new attorney also listened to me (the paying client) and got me the best possible deal without dragging out my case. Bill was unwilling to listen to what I (the client) wanted and was only trying to rack up more unnecessary charges. This caused a ton of extra stress during an already difficult time. There are far too many good attorneys out there to waste your time and money on this rude and arrogant scam artist. Bill - You know that we have already discussed offline, but I would be more than happy to discuss again.

Bill unfortunately lived out the worst stereotype of a lawyer in my experience. We contacted him for assistance with obtaining a PoA (a service listed on his website). We have never obtained a PoA from a law firm before and reached out to Cownie for his services. Unfortunately, Bill didn't listen very well during the initial phone call and assumed we were trying to solicit him for probono legal services and hung up on us. Fortunately for us, lawyers are dime a dozen and we immediately sought our services elsewhere. We were happy to take our business over to Kathleen Overton in the same area and she was able to assist us right away and secured a quote and appointment. She was kind, compassionate, and competent.

I hired Bill for my divorce. The number one reason was something he said during my consultation. "If there is any chance your marriage can be reconciled, that is the better option." This told me what kind of lawyer he is. Bill is always kind, honest and professional which helped me so much during the long, difficult process. He kept me up to date frequently, I never had to wonder what was happening in my case. If I had questions he responded quickly. He knew all aspects of my case and was amazing in the courtroom. I have since hired Bill on two other issues and will continue to use him in the future. I highly recommend William Cownie to anyone!

I am grateful to William Cownie for the outstanding job he did dealing with US BANK and 3 Credit reporting companies. His attention to detail, as well as his knowledge of legal services were vital. I also appreciate how he promptly responded to my questions during the process of my complicated case. Bill assisted me with all legal matters while I had to come to terms with my mistake. He did it in a way that was professional and treated me with respect. This is what anyone who is reading this and is looking for a lawyer. Especially at a low point in their adult life. Bill represented me in my divorce proceedings. My case took over 3 years to get done and he stayed the course the entire way, even when I wasn't the best client.
