There are not enough positive words to describe the excellent experience we had as clients of Hollis Legal Solutions. After receiving unfair and retaliatory treatment from Mississippi Child Protective Services when they removed from our home our foster child whom we were on track to adopt, we researched legal cases that had been won against the agency. We first talked to a prior client of the firm and received a very positive recommendation. After talking extensively with Scott and explaining the circumstances, we knew he was exactly who we wanted to represent us. Scott explained that the fight would be difficult, but we deserved justice and he would do his best to assure that we got it. He became an immediate advocate for our family! He created an extensive plan and anticipated every action that the CPS agency made. In every appearance in court, his expertise was obvious as well as the respect court officials and the judge had for him. In late November, our eleven- month nightmare ended in Chancery Court with the adoption of our daughter. Scott's knowledge was obvious, and we appreciated his open communication with us. I must say that this is one of the worst experiences that I've had. Initially speaking to Scott, explaining all elements of the situation with my daughter. He spoke boldly on what and how they would handle my case. After the first retainer payment, I had to press them on any movement in the case when it had been an entire year with absolutely nothing except a large bill. Finally after them going back and forth, there was modification of custody. However the immediate issues that I spoke to Scott about were left untouched. As well as financial agreements being made without receiving documentation to verify from the opposing party. After confronting them about their lack in the matter, they did not take it upon themselves to fulfill the obligation, rather sent me an email and basically said good luck hopefully you'll work it out. $20K later, their is still no enforcement on the other to uphold the order, my daughter still has gaps of a month of a time without visitation, and nothing established to hold the opposing party accountable. The situation is not healthy neither fair for my child, yet they got their money upfront. If you are fighting for your child, especially if you're a father, in no manner would I refer this firm. Find someone that actually cares about the benefit of the child's life more than they do the money.

My family retained their services to get their one of their last names removed. They were quoted ~$1000 for ALL three, NOT per person, since each had already paid the $148 filing fee directly to the DeSoto Chancery Court. The petitions were drafted, signed, and submitted. We got the first invoice for $995 which was in line with the quoted amount. Almost two weeks after the name change petition was approved, we got hit with another invoice for another $865. That's almost double of what was quoted. Their literal excuses "One thing that was unique about your situation had to do with the immigration status of everyone and the assignment of the judge to your case" and "It is possible Scott underestimated the total amount for each name change...". All of my family members have legal status, DHS work authorization and US Citizens. There is nothing in the Mississippi Code regarding a person's legal status or their place of birth. They met every requirement for a name change and this was clearly stated on the first meeting with the firm. Although we received the desired outcome from the name change petitions, I'm disappointed with the lack of transparency on the pricing. This should have been a straightforward case. I understand a couple of hundred dollars difference from the quoted amount, but not almost double.

The firms' communication and professionalism is top tier! They are very organized and well versed in their speciality. I was informed throughout the process, which kept my stress level down. Highly recommend this firm.
