John Burns was my attorney and Ben was the paralegal on the case. I've gotten to know many attorneys, and he brought his A-game to every hearing, no exception. I saw some reviews complaining about money, but you get what you pay for! Same with Ben; he is very kind and will review anything you throw at him. You have to trust these guys to do what's best for you, because they won't update you on every little thing. I wanted them to prepare a great case on my behalf for the judge(s), and bogging them down with petty things just gets in the way. My case had many "pivots" due to the other party not being transparent and not following through, which infuriated me, but John and Ben made the best of it and delivered each time. Family Court is an emotional thing... I get it. They were always objective and looking at the big picture and how the JUDGE would see things. Even when new things came up during hearings, I was impressed how John was able to use them in my favor. He was a great negotiator when it came to settlement, even with the other party having a good lawyer. In the end, starting out with zero custody of my daughter, I got full custody of my daughter!! I don't think this could have happened with any other attorney. He's not a "my way or the highway" attorney, either. I changed my mind a couple times, and he did his best, clearly.

John is quick to pick up on non-sense but he isn't here to play by your ex's games. He is fact based and to the point. He is a strong advocate to have on your side. He is not afraid to correct someone on the spot when they are wrong, this includes the Judge. He will reiterate what he said and make the point clear. Very confident court room presence. Absolutely awful experience - avoid at all costs. I hired attorney Burns to represent me in a highly sensitive custody and divorce case. He demanded thousands of dollars up front, made promises, and then completely disappeared. For over three months, I wasn't allowed to see my children - and he did absolutely nothing. He never filed any motions to protect my parenting time, never followed up with the court, and worst of all, he failed to inform me of key hearings. I missed important court dates simply because he never communicated with me. There was zero communication. I would email, call, and send messages with no reply for days or even weeks. It was clear he did not care about my case, my children, or my rights. To make things worse, his treatment toward me as a Latino immigrant father was clearly discriminatory. He was dismissive, arrogant, and made me feel that my concerns weren't valid - as if I didn't deserve to fight for my children simply because I'm not American-born. His attitude was not only unprofessional, but blatantly racist. I ultimately fired him for gross negligence and failure to perform even the most basic duties of an attorney.
