Mr. Russi lacks competence and reading comprehension skills. He was sub-contracted as a business associate to help a family member's independent healthcare worker ensure proper HIPAA protocols, except he doesn't specialize in health law and basically the healthcare business at which he was employed/subcontracted as a business associate totally botched our very simple and routine HIPAA request. We had no choice but to report the business to the Federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR) for multiple and repeated HIPAA violations, and they have been under investigation for a year. The nature/legality of Mr. Russi's relationship with this business is also being investigated by the OCR. Additionally, as a result of Mr. Russi's lack of basic legal knowledge, we were forced to sue the business and they settled for $40,000. This man is clueless. UPDATE November 2022: The Federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR) completed their HIPAA investigation and found that Mr. Russi retaliated against us (which is unlawful under HIPAA regulations) and also falsely held himself out as a "business associate" with the independent healthcare office when in fact he did not have the requisite contractual arrangements with the office to claim that he was a "business associate".

First I would like to say I didn't want to give a 1 star rating but I couldn't write my review unless I picked a star and I felt it was important to get this out to hopefully help others. John Russi from the firm Moore Penna & Associates is a disgrace to be practicing law. When we started with him the first thing we asked Mr. Russi can we win this case he said Yes. We than asked how much will this cost he said approximately $5,000-$10,000 the most unless it goes to trial than it could cost $30,000. We told him we don't have that kind of money he preceded to tell us it won't get that fair or last that long not with our type of case and the evidence we had. After a year and a half and $32,000 later with no trial we Lost the case and our savings. Please understand we aren't bitter because we Lost... it is how we Lost. He told us the only way we could of lost is...."Either the judge is stupid and we know that isn't so or someone called in a favor the fix was in". Yep you heard correctly someone asked for a favor and we didn't get a fair ruling from the Judge. Call us naive but we were in shock that this truly goes on in the court system. So we asked what he was going to due to make it right he kept saying it will cost thousands of dollars to go forward and I know you can't afford to go forward. You would think he would want to go forward to make it right. Later we find out our friends called Mr Russi and told him to due the right thing and go back to court. They asked him how much will it cost he again said thousands they said 1 or 2 thousands he said I just want to be done with this case I'm tired they couldn't believe what he said. I know this sounds like a fictional story but I have every email that Russi had sent us plus in his own words how terrible this was that the Fix was in and we didn't get a fair ruling. Russi said the opinion of the Judge was terrible she couldn't of written it her self knowing this he walks away feeling no obligation to make it right. He doesn't care about his clients or the oath he took when he became an attorney. Believe this as of today he is still asking for money he feels he put in a lot more hours then we paid him. Mr John Russi didn't fulfill his Fiduciary Duty or upheld the Constitution that states everyone gets a fair and honest ruling instead he walks away knowing our case was Fixed his words. To the person that gave John Russi a 5 star review without putting their name on it (which is odd) never stating they were a client. My review is on our experience with Mr. Russi as our attorney and how he couldn't stand up against corruption in the courts because he was concerned what that would do to his career in the future....his words. I had never written a review before but I'm so passionate to stop this man from ever hurting and taking advantage of Senior Citizens or anyone else and not due what he was paid to do. To think the Court is not built on the truth makes me sick and to know others can influence the outcome of a ruling by just asking for a favor is truly Pathetic and against our constitutional rights. Everyone should be accountable especially the attorney that chose to turn his head. We will continue to put our story out there so maybe one day it can make a difference.
