As a 16 year attorney, Canu Torrice are my go-to attorneys to recommend for criminal and/or family law issues in the metro Detroit counties. They are priced very fairly, and you get attorneys who handle high volume and have good reputations in the legal community.

Make no mistake, these people are only after your money! They have you in a vulnerable situation, don't sign the fee agreement! Your costs are going to be way more than they lead you to believe.

An Exceptional Defense Attorney Who Truly Has Your Back
I had the privilege of having Peter Torrice as my defense lawyer, and I couldn't be more impressed with his representation. From the very beginning, I knew I was in good hands--Peter's dedication and support throughout my somewhat complex yet baseless case were unwavering.
What truly set Peter apart was his deep understanding of the technological aspects involved in my case. His ability to break down complicated concepts and present them clearly to the judge was invaluable. He was incredibly thorough, yet explained everything in a way that made it easy for the court to grasp.
Thanks to Peter's exceptional skill and strategic approach, he was able to get the entire frivolous case dropped, which allowed the prosecutor and complainant to save face because the judge had already indicated she was going to dismiss it. Peter made sure that happened smoothly and efficiently.
I cannot recommend Peter enough to anyone in need of an extremely intelligent, articulate, and aggressive defense attorney. He is a true advocate for his clients, and his expertise was instrumental in securing a favorable outcome for me. Thank you, Peter!

My experience with Canu Torrice Law, and Andrew Canu specifically, has been beyond TERRIBLE. Andrew manipulated me into paying a huge retainer urgently without ever mentioning that it would be nonrefundable until after the transaction was processed. He has been impossible to get ahold of for weeks at a time, consistently over-billed me, and even charged the same rate for work done by his legal assistant as if he had done it himself. As an example, I have been billed $420 by Andrew for sending a 342 word email, a 112 word follow up a week later when he never replied, and an 85 word response from him. Apparently Andrew thinks it's reasonable to charge an hour and 24 minutes to read and send a worthless reply to an email that you only had to send because he was MIA. Sadly, this has been Andrew's entire MO. Another example is that I was billed $120 the day I retained Andrew, at his $300 rate, for an email consisting of 3 sentences that was sent by his assistant containing my credit card receipt, a fee agreement and intake paperwork. I have never been billed by an attorney for this type of clerical work, let alone when performed by a legal assistant at an attorney's hourly rate. In total I have been billed almost $1,400 by this firm without ever actually having done any work on my case or having an initial meeting. I have worked with so many attorneys, and none have ever even approached how bad Andrew Canu has been. And I see another reviewer came here to say the same thing.
Since Thanksgiving, Andrew has completely refused to communicate with me regarding a refund of my retainer. I've gone weeks without any response from him or anyone at his office, and the only way I could even get him to reply to an email was by sending a fax--yes, a fax--to his office. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable, and I deeply regret ever hiring him. Save yourself the headache and avoid this attorney at all costs.
