If you're looking for a lawyer who truly has your best interests at heart, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. I hired Attorney Valeria Tomlin from Valeria Tomlin Law Office LLC in March 2025 for my divorce case, and it turned into one of the most frustrating and expensive experiences I've ever had. Within just a few months, I had spent around $23,000 and still had little understanding of my rights or my attorney's strategy for my case. Communication was poor -- I only spoke with her once about my case in late August, even though my hearing was coming up in September. Despite my request for weekly billing updates (because my retainer balance was disappearing so quickly), I was still charged during periods with little to no activity. When I asked to limit interview time with certain witnesses to control costs, she seemed to take issue with it. I later learned on my own that I was eligible to request things like Use of Property and additional financial support while the divorce was pending -- things my attorney never explained to me. She also gave me incorrect information about alimony and child support limits, which I confirmed were inaccurate after doing my own research. Overall, I felt my former attorney was more focused on fees than on helping me secure stability for myself and my child.
