Do not hire Ben Klopman. In my experience he utterly failed to represent me and actively undermined my position. I'm a successful female entrepreneur in my mid-30s and own a reputable salon in DC. Ben came as a referral, but from the beginning he told me I had no real defense and that the entire ordeal was simply a "lesson I needed to learn." That attitude was arrogant, dismissive, and completely tone-deaf given the financial and emotional stakes for my business. Rather than advocate or strategize, he pushed the responsibility back on me and often gave advice that felt directly against my best interests. All communication was handled over the phone, with hours billed arbitrarily and without transparency. I paid a $5,000 retainer he said would likely not be depleted -- in the end, only $5 was returned. I later learned he isn't even a commercial real estate attorney, but primarily a personal injury lawyer. No wonder I felt unsupported. After wasting months and thousands of dollars, I hired a larger, reputable law firm that reached a fair settlement in half the time it took with him. Hiring Ben Klopman was one of the most costly missteps I've made as a business owner. If you're facing a serious legal matter, protect yourself and look elsewhere.
