Carla Clark is a horrible BIA! Her priority is not the best interest of a child. Her priority is to appease her attorney buddies and or colleges. You will be pleased with her if your attorney and her are friends or have worked together in the past. This is what happened to us. She didn't care about my step son's needs or wants. She spent a total of maybe 3 hours with him and made a determination that he was ill equipped to speak for himself at almost 13 years old. She ignored the professional opinions and advice of his doctors and healthcare providers or his school officials. She made her own conclusions based on zero facts. The court deems her to be credible so beware of her intentions. She will absolutely not make a sound recommendation for the betterment of your child/children. As mentioned before, she will side with an attorney she is friends with. Your child will absolutely not be her priority. Read that sentence again. It will not be a fair trial and the child/ children involved will have no say and have zero benefit. A Best Interest Attorney should care about the betterment and well-being of a child. This is not the case with Carla. There is a lot of elbow running so ask her if she is friends with your attorney. If she is, you are lucky and will probably win. If you would like someone who will fight for your child and their needs and listen to your child's doctors or their concerns please do not hire Carla. As parents you aren't even allowed to question her or disagree with her recommendations or she will cry out that she's being attacked. She's a horrible attorney. Unfortunately she is one of three BIA's in the Frederick County Court and I can't speak about the other BIAs. If they are anything like her, you're better off hiring someone outside of the Frederick court system. Hope this helps anyone in our situation. I am not a disgruntled parent because we didn't lose and my step son is a content child with the custody outcome. But the fight was long, expensive and a complete waste of time when you are not only litigating against the opposing party but also corrupt attorneys.
