My case just ended 9/29/2025 and I've been patiently waiting to write this review because I did not want for it to affect my case (you never know who knows who). This Incident occurred 10/2024, I had felony charges that had to do with a gun discharge. I was honestly the victim, a man came up to my vehicle upset stating I cut him off. I explained to the person I had a gun and was so shaken that the gun discharged but did not hit the person and I called 911. I did have a license to carry at the time and retained Akiva Gross as my lawyer since I was using my gun permit insurance from USCCA. I wasn't aware that I could retain any lawyer of my choice and just picked one from their site (worst mistake). Akiva explained to me there was no way out of my handgun discharge. I was not fully explained my charges to an extent I could understand and did not know about counter pleas when I was offered a plea. I started doing my own research and would ask questions about the information I learned and then was informed. The day of my initial court date I saw Akiva accepting new discovery right before going into the court room from the prosecutor. I asked what was in the envelope and if he was going to say anything to me about it? Akiva then asked if I wanted new legal counsel and if so he could let the judge know and they would not proceed that day. I then went before the judge with Akiva about 30 minutes later. I explained discovery was taken prior to walking into the court room and asked for my right to obtain a new legal counsel. The judge did not believe me and put the court in recess in order to bring in the prosecutor that gave the new discovery. The judge then asked the prosecutor if what I was saying is true (he did not believe me) he stated he tried to send via email and it wasn't working so he gave the discovery the morning of my court hearing. The judge was visibly upset and said he's has no choice but to let me retain new counsel. Akiva was livid and told the judge i had "cold feet", and sent me an email after court of how I cannot comprehend what was explained to me and that I turned the court room into a circus. Akiva has no compassion, he was just looking for a check and was even bragging about how he had a vacation planned after my court date! Akiva' s attitude is nasty, you have to ask him all questions and make him work, when you ask questions he ignores them or acts as if you are a bother. This was my life and Akiva never put any energy into my case! I retained Anton from Lamele & Lamele LLP, he explained this was a really hard case due to the discharge, text message, video footage etc. He told me he would do his best to keep me out of jail, I trusted him and was reassuring encouraging me to stop stressing. I went to court and by the time Anton finished in the court room, the judge even felt bad for me! I was given 5 years all suspended and unsupervised probation for 2 years. Anton then asked me to contact him once my probation is completed so we can file another motion and work on getting my background back clear. I am still in awe, I've been so stressed for a while and I can finally exhale. I'm going to add some of our emails, the one he sent after I requested new counsel.
