I'm very happy to give this review. Prior to my phone appointment with Mr. Bourgeois I was am emotional wreck from the way my disability insurer was handling my review periods. I looked up attorneys online and reading his profile , and eventhough he was out of state, I decided to call the law offices of Mr. Bourgeois. I got an easy appointment with the scheduler who was very friendly and helpful. In advance of my phone appointment I was asked to send Mr. Bourgeois a copy of my private disability insurance policy from my insurer that he took the time to read and digest prior to our phone call. Aces! I had never gotten a copy of it prior to that. When we spoke he listened very well, letting me describe my dilemma. I stated my concerns to him that it felt like my insurance company was trying to turn my physical disability into a psychiatric disability (which I believe he then told me had a "finite" insurance period, as opposed to a possibly reviewable, longer physical disability claim period), and also how they weren't acknowledging my responses to their letters, and then trying to paint me out to be non-compliant. I kept getting what must have been auto-replies triggered by a certain period of time having passed, as best as I could figure out. Mr. Bourgeois readily grasped my concerns and gave me some feedback and insights which gave me the courage to push back against my insurer. I no longer felt alone against a big insurance company which gave me great relief. Before talking with Mr. Bourgeois I was running scared and quite intimidated by the idea of my insurer cutting off my benefits which served as my only source of income. Personally, it felt threatening, but after the phone call I felt much more empowered and, as such, I decided to go on the offensive and tell my insurer all the ways they were letting me down and causing me more stress, on top of my disability. Afterall, I was their costumer and I was paying them premiums for services during any possible period of need, and, as such, they worked for me. I pointed out their speaking for my employer's point of view seemed to me to be an inherent conflict of interest because I was their client as well and deserving of objective treatment by them, if not favorable. I also put them on the spot, for a change, asking them direct questions, expecting answers from them as well by certain deadlines, indicating they needed to be accountable to me, and needed to adhere to insurance guidelines. Well, it worked and I got my disability insurance continued!!! One hour of solace from Mr. Bourgeois gave me the strength I needed to defend myself mightily! So if you're on the fence about whether or not it's worth it to consult an attorney, even if out of state, I say, 'Save yourself some splinters and get down off that fence and call Mr. Bourgeois.' He was not only knowledgeable, but kind and compassionate as well. It was well worth every penny for the hour's consultation in order to regain a certain level of control over the process and my life. A great experience!
