Had a disappointing experience with Jacob Van Cleaf that cost me $1400. Communication and diligence left so much to be desired. Very unorganized in every way possible. Without notice he went missing before scheduled meetings. He took my mediation meeting while driving in his car with road noise and unable to look at documentation provided by the other side. He missed deadlines along the way that caused excessive delay and a financial penalty I have to pay the court system. Some of the advice I received was extremely inaccurate. I was informed that the mediator of my divorce mediation suggested to the other party that he shouldn't be practicing law based on our session. along with the opposing attorney. They were making fun of my legal representation while I was struggling to get a fair deal. This firm dropped the ball in nearly every way possible. After moving to a new lawyer it has been a night and day difference. Constant communication about what is happening and what I need to be doing. Not disappearing for scheduled meetings. Lots of guidance through the process. The things you should expect of a lawyer.

Highly recommend this firm. They were extremely helpful and professional. Jacob Van Cleaf fought really hard for my case and I really appreciate it. He postponed the case a few times to win the case in our favor. 10/10. Thank you Jacob.

Let me assure you after 30 phone calls to all different attorney firms this is one of the most professional and knowledgeable firms and honest in the state of Iowa. I would Have these guys me in a heartbeat. Like 10 stars not five.

I got this lawyer for a texting while driving charge out of iowa. The lawyer that showed up pulled a defense outta the sky with no preparation when I explained i would be better of relinquishing council to give me more time to get a better defense he said "worst that can happen is a 60 day suspension" i told him my career would be over for at least 3 years. Due to my guilty charge and their failure to give me an adequate defense I am out of the industry. In addition to their lack of preparation I emailed and called months in advance to get some understanding of what defense I would be given in court only to be met with silence. The attorney didn't even know what my case was when he arrived he had to review it at court just to know what he was doing. The lawyers response is "its your fault". Thanks for nothing!
