Stay as far away as possible. There was no evidence in my case for most of the charges. Mark wanted to work for the prosecutor to maintain a relationship and not for his client who is paying him over $30,000 to not get results, instead focusing his priorities on being buddy/ buddy with Monica Slaughter, the prosecutor. Mark is a big talker, but gets nothing done. He dismissed himself from my case a week before sentencing, after having been on over a year, after I stated my frustrations. Greasy, disgusting move after over $30,000 with no results. I'm not sure if he's on his way out for retirement but he may have been a great lawyer in the past but his reputation is only that of his glory days 15-30 years ago. Bare minimum effort. Beware. You will get better results with a public defender and not have to spend over $400/ hr for a con man.

Jointly assisted you per your case, in a venue whereby prison time is the norm, we educate all clients in similar legal situations to this facts as we did in representing you sir. You knew the dynamics of your case and your limited case options. Your post is five years after the fact I would have thought we could discuss your case as to these unknown concerns, if and when they existed. I indeed wish you the best respectfully MB

In Reply To H. Bell Review - In General Terms - By M. Brown 09-19-2025. Each client at the M. B. Law Office, upon retention always receives and executes a full and detailed fee contract as to rates and possible charges. In many cases expert consultation for example: psychological testing, memory and false memory experts and in house Exams in some cases these consultations and deposition costs alone can consume $8,000.00 to $10,000.00, or more. NO SUCH MEASURES ARE EVER TAKEN W/O THE CLIENT'S KNOWLEDGE AND INPUT INDEED. Client's know all expert costs and lawyer fee rates upon retention, via a written - fee contract. In defending say a B Felony charge for example or multiple felony allegations, most client's want..."all hands-on deck," in their defense. It seems disingenuous, for any person to desire " all hands-on deck," or a desire for expert consultation on their case, only later to complain ( the lawyer's time-experts ), about these assisting measures or known costs. Policy - No expert hired and no depositions done w/o a clients' consent and each month every client at my office receives a detailed statement as to fees and costs. Said review really engulfs upon nefarious personal attacks of counsel yet ignores the facts and allegations at hand and or work applied. My work per all cases is open and public per Iowa Courts Online, and the public may see this case online and digest the notable legal work applied. As a product of the local NW community, I'm entrenched in assisting members of our community. I've never been a "big talker," as alleged, and per some people ( very few ), the lawyer's legal words-advice can be lost in legal space by them. My advice and actions would be documented in vast and detailed emails........client decisions-&-choices upon per their case must be informed and free, void of a distorted reality, is the goal, documented in a written format. I will not respond to such attacks and note, my practice and work continues now and into the next years, Mr. Bell is not my spokesperson upon any retirement, and his comments there are distorted. Mr. Bell, well knows, the inference as to the prosecution... buddy/buddy per his case is unfounded and reality, rests in a different legal hemisphere indeed. The review notes my office, withdrawing from Mr. Bell's case, post plea -Alford Plea - but pre sentencing, and notes my on-going representation of Mr. Bell for 12 months. Based upon the review, the personal attacks and language used in the review, as examples noted.... in counsel's humble opinion, parallels any rationale for the withdraw as needed. I certainly wish Mr. Bell the best in the future, and understand the dynamics of online reviews, but, as a product of our community, and 34 years of assisting community members from all walks of life, I resist his comments and rest upon, reality has no substitute, Respectfully M. Brown.
