Client
If there was an option for 0 stars that would have been selected. Mr. Berry provided extremely poor legal representation in my loved one's criminal probation case. He requested multiple continuances just to gather basic information, was often late to court, and never verified credit time. He failed to challenge clear errors by the probation department--despite their own admission that they have faulty equipment which can cause the alleged violations--and repeatedly suggested his client was guilty rather than defending him. During almost two months of incarceration, Mr. Berry never met with his client and communicated very poorly. He encouraged his client to admit to violations without properly explaining options, inaccurately implied substance-abuse issues despite clean drug screens, and did not pursue possible misconduct by the probation office. After filing a Motion to Correct Error, he never shared it with his client, and his office ignored follow-up requests regarding an appeal. Based on this experience, I believe Mr. Berry provides inadequate legal counsel, particularly within the Black community. I cannot recommend him for criminal defense.
