A few years ago, my husband and I were in stopped traffic on a major highway when we were rear ended by a car traveling at highway speeds. The resulting concussion was life changing, yet the insurance company, after two years of delays, offered us a insulting grand total of ~ $1,000, denying the concussion and resulting syndrome. We are in our 50s and 60s and though we had experience with a lot of "life" we had never been involved in anything like this or any kind of litigation. We falsely believed we could negotiate on our own and "not take advantage" of the insurance company. We thought we would get a reasonable settlement and save everyone money. By the time it dawned on us that the insurance company had no interest in fairness, we were close to the deadline to file a lawsuit. We reached out to several attorneys. Most just wanted to "sign" us without taking the time to understand the case or answer our questions. Mike was different. He sought to understand the uniqueness of our case. With a very reasonable retainer, he went right to work, even visiting our home to look us in the eye and understand what we had been going through. He handled everything at lightning speed, offering wise, compassionate counsel at every twist and turn. We found Mike to be exceedingly competent, but with a heart. Koch is the laziest lawyer you could ask for. It took me over a month to get him to call me back to even get started on my case. After he finally looked it over he told me it would be wrapped up within about 4 months and was an open and shut case. I had to get ahold of him multiple times just to get him to tell me what was going on. He didnt send out my demand letter until months after he said he would. I also had to resend him part of my files because he had lost them. He drug me along for almost 2 years assuring me it was an open and shut case until the last 3 months when he completely back tracked. I spent almost 2 years waiting and constantly trying to push him along only to receive a message from him stating he has a select group of clients he has and usually does a case like mine when he has spare time and has to think about his profit. I even had a letter from the hospital stating they made a mistake and read my xray wrong and he still managed to lose the case. Do not hire him unless you plan on a lazy lawyer who refuses to do anything, makes excuses for his laziness then screws up your case. I am not the first one who had a very easy case to win that he has lost. Please find another lawyer if you want justice.
