John Clery

John and his team at John T Clery law are great to work with. He is not only knowledgeable but also incredibly patient, and I feel comfortable referring clients to his team. His staff is pleasant and responsive. No matter how challenging the situation, they always have a calm and reassuring presence that makes me confident we can close even the most complex transaction.

I don't recommend his services to anyone. While I clearly communicated my needs and he seemed to follow it for long while he made a last minute change to my paperwork at the closing that went against my pre conditions of a huge investment. It is awful to find that out some long time afterwards since I had the impression that he followed my instructions. Unless you have enough knowledge in the legal space on your own do not work with him if you don't like last minute surprises that have huge legal and financial implications. He doesn't listen to his clients and seems to have his mind on how you should conduct your business. You will not understand what he is changing unless you have a law degree. Stay away at all costs!

John was referred to me and hallelujah for that! Incredibly thorough process to buy my home. Kathy in his office is amazing and walked me through the tiny details that were needed. I will forever refer him to anyone buying property. And my closing was actually fun...almost as much fun as my divorce. Thanks so much!

I would not recommend working with John Clery and his staff. I chose to work with him, because he was recommended by a family friend. However the recommendation was awful. John was friendly when I initially reached out to him for help and actually answered my calls/responded to my emails quickly in the early process. However something happened and then he never responded to my phone calls and it seemed that my emails were just going to a black hole. I needed to get some basic information and in a 10 day period I sent many emails and attempted to call many times with no luck. When I finally was able to get a hold of their staff regarding my question they were completely rude. After getting my answer (which they were short about and I needed to pull information from them, which seemed like I was irritating them) I asked why they never responded to my email and messages. They couldn't answer that and couldn't understand why I was upset. It seemed that his staff was screening his emails and calls, because every time I would ask to speak to him they would respond oh he's busy. I sent one final email during the closing process asking if we can speak (I clearly acknowledged that he's busy, but it was an urgent matter) and there was no response. During closing he acted like nothing had happened and was chummy. During the closing we needed to provide a death certificate and I was told he would mail it back immediately after the closing. It's been almost 3 weeks and I haven't received anything and yes you can guess all my attempts of contacting them have failed (no responses). If you want to work with someone that is friendly to get your business, but then not helpful...or willing to answer your questions...or has an unfriendly/unhelpful staff then work with him...otherwise you are better off working with any attorney, but him. He was awful, his staff was awful, and I hope they learn to treat their clients in the same respect their clients treat them with. One additional information to keep in mind. We were selling our house, so we had signed the paperwork prior to closing and I had to pick up the check we were paid with. When I picked it up none of his staff asked for an ID to verify I was the check owner or willing to sit down with my to review the discrepancy in the check amount between what we had discussed at the contract signing and the actual check amount received.

5 deals and counting, John is my favorite part of every transaction. He makes certain we are getting the best terms in every deal, he also takes the time to ask how the family is doing. 10/10 in my book.
