I want to start by saying I would not recommend Carbon law to anyone looking for legal help. That being said, Matt is a good lawyer. I was happy with the results of my case but think his talents are wasted there. But I do think there are several areas where Carbon Law could improve greatly. First, if you have a DUI, Carbon Law can help with the criminal side, but they do NOT handle DMV issues. In my opinion, make sure you contact a separate DMV attorney immediately! When I spoke with John, I was under the impression that they had someone in-house who handled DMV matters and that it was included in the quoted price. It turned out they only provide a referral, which was disappointing to learn later. Communication between John and Matt was also extremely frustrating! I always had to repeat information even after John said he would pass it along. I also had to gather most of my own documents. Despite believing the firm could access those just as easily, if not faster. Even the DA seemed to get information more efficiently then them. It left me wondering what exactly I was being charged for. A clear breakdown of fees to price would be very helpful for others in the future. Just warning John gets upset and becomes extremely unprofessional and petty when you ask this question. I also never really felt like the team cared about me or had confidence in my case. It often felt like I was just another number and that they were rushing through things to move on to the next client. Communication felt hectic and inconsistent--I received multiple calls a day or would have to call multiple times a day and not get clear answers, and sometimes important updates weren't even communicated. For example, my court date was changed to an earlier day, and I only found out because I called courthouse myself. Meetings were only offered in the mornings, which was inconvenient. I also asked for things like video evidence multiple times, for me to view and they took me harassing and with-holding payments for them to get it to me. Overall, I do hope Carbon Law works on improving their communication, organization, and client care. Matt did achieve a good outcome for me, but the process itself felt chaotic, and I often felt overlooked. Better clarity, consistency, and support would go a long way.
