HDLS provides attorney representation in Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, the CNMI, and the Pacific region for Social Security, SSI, and Veterans Disability benefits. With offices in Honolulu and Kona, we travel throughout the Pacific to meet with clients. In 2023, out attorney travels to Guam and Saipan every 3 months. We appeal at all levels, including after Social Security hearing and Board of Veterans Appeals denials.
We do not get paid unless we win, and we will never send you a bill. We are paid 25% or less of your back pay from VA or Social Security. Where possible, we ask Social Security and VA pay the entire attorney fee, so nothing comes from your back pay. We do not bill you for costs, including our travel.

I want to express my deepest appreciation to Hawaii Disability Legal Services, LLLC, headed by Attorney Dianne Haar and her outstanding team. Our initial communication began on July 18, 2025, and by November 10, 2025, my SSDI was officially approved. That is an incredibly fast turnaround, and I truly credit their professionalism and expertise for the smooth and successful outcome.
Throughout the entire process, they were prompt, organized, responsive, and extremely thorough. They guided me step-by-step, handled every detail with care, and kept me informed at all stages. Their dedication and commitment made a stressful process easy and manageable.
Attorney Haar and her team are truly commendable. I am extremely grateful for their help and highly recommend Hawaii Disability Legal Services to anyone seeking reliable and expert assistance with SSDI. Mahalo for your exceptional service!
Sincerely,
Daniel G.

First time applying for Social Security. I needed a lawyer to represent me. I called Legal Aid Office and a representative sent us materials so that I could understand the process. The communication was opened and clear and a name and phone number was available if you had any questions answered. We used email for documents that needed to be signed and sent back immediately. It was faster than postal. A representative John Hoots was also helpful before I spoke to our lawyer and assured us that I was on the right track. My lawyer Diane Haar called for 15 minutes to let us know that everything needed is in front of her and was ready to go to court with us and I loved her positive attitude "We are going to win!" gave me hope and not so nervous. After court I was told I would received a letter from the Judge. It appears everything went faster than was quoted to me. Like our case might take one year and a half, it took about less than 6 months. I was surprised how fast the letter from the Judge came through the mail. Overall, I am thankful for everyone involved in representing me. Especially my lawyer she is worth it, but somehow she made me feel like I'm worth it.
Mahalo,
Walter K.

when all others lawyers turned down my hard to win case, diane did not. after a 21 year wait, Ms. Diane was able to help me in in ssa court in guam because I live in the Philippines only after only a few years. I would use her again. Her staff is friendly and she is brilliant. If you live in the Philippines, saipan, or anywhere you should get your ssa case to her.
