I had my initial consultation with Attorney Lana Joseph on September 29th, after being referred by an associate who mentioned that although her services were expensive, she provided good results. Unfortunately, my experience was quite the opposite. During our consultation, I immediately noticed that Attorney Joseph had difficulty listening attentively. She frequently interrupted me and spoke over my sentences, which made it nearly impossible to fully explain my situation. The experience was frustrating and discouraging, to the point where I had to end the conversation early. It was disheartening to encounter such dismissiveness and lack of humility from someone I was considering trusting with my immigration case. After the consultation, she continued discussions with my husband. The following day, I contacted her office to request an invoice and clarification on payment, but as of now, I have yet to receive it. Instead, I was told to begin gathering evidence for our case, which we did immediately. A week later, she reached out to inform me that I now needed to file a FOIA request to find out why our previous case was denied -- something that had already been covered in our original documents. This sudden change in direction was confusing and inconsistent with what we had previously discussed. I explained to her that I was traveling and unable to complete that task immediately. Her messages, while polite in wording, carried a passive-aggressive tone that made each request feel more like a demand than collaboration. I later learned she had told her receptionist I was "angry," which was not the case -- I was simply frustrated by the lack of communication and clarity. Despite my repeated attempts to follow up and resolve these issues, my calls began being forwarded to voicemail or other extensions with no response. It became apparent that I was being ignored and dismissed as a client. I've spent two weeks and nearly ten hours of my personal time trying to obtain a simple response or invoice, only to be met with unprofessionalism and disregard for the urgency of my situation. This has been the worst legal experience I've ever had, particularly disappointing as this was my first time needing an immigration attorney. I even asked directly whether she preferred not to take my case, just so I could move forward, but instead I've been left in limbo. To be asked to handle my own discovery -- something I assumed would be part of the legal services and fees discussed -- is unreasonable and unacceptable. I expected professionalism, empathy, and guidance through a sensitive process. Instead, I received confusion, inconsistency, and neglect. I would not recommend this firm to anyone seeking compassionate and responsive immigration representation.
