Client Testimonials

Client

I remember reading the reviews for this firm and figured that a 4 out of 5 star is still really solid if you are dealing with many clients. But the 4 star rating is misleading, this is a 1 star at best. This firm will nickel and dime you for every interaction, I was mislead from the beginning and immediately blew past the budget that I had set in order to even afford using an attorney. Not only is your budget not accounted for in the process at all, they will continue to move forward and keep charging as though cost is an afterthought and let you drown as they charge you left and right for mundane tasks. The unresponsive and slow action time is absolutely infuriating as well. Tom would tell us that the document would be completed and submit the following day. Be forewarned that "the following day" actually means 1-2 weeks later. My final gripe is simply that my wife was called the wrong name, not once or twice. But at every interaction. They do not even take the time to figure out who they are dealing with and be able to call them by the right name. She was addressed by the wrong name over the phone and in emails, (To which the email that were sending actually includes her proper name). Save you time and money, use someone else, or represent yourself.

I was with them for over a year. They over charged me and then said if I didn't pay they would drop my case. Which makes sense, however they refused to give me a payment plan (causing me to work 4 jobs) They did help me once or twice with fees by making me pay them a week or two later. Then my lawyer argued with the judge before we even started our final court session. Unfortunately we lost and I'm barely getting any money from my abusive ex-husband. Which they then charged me more than we got. And only THEN did they give me a payment plan. I was going to leave be. However they kept begging me for a review so here is my honest review. Side note: I actually did like my lawyer but I do believe that having an argument/disagreement with the judge before court even started was a big factor as to why we lost.

Taylor and his team were very professional and helpful in my dissolution of marriage. They worked very hard to keep me informed and help me through anything I had questions about along the way. I would recommend them to anyone looking for similar counsel.

*YOU'RE BETTER OFF SELF REPRESENTING* JLG failed to inform me about critical processes (such as a temp orders hearing for parenting time as my now ex-wife was very combative about sharing time with our kids once we separated, even after I spent many hours pressing JLG for options just like that that would help me get time with my kids). I learned about the temp orders hearing from the CFI (child family investigator) who put in his report his concern that I hadn't asked for that. JLG neglected to clarify to the CFI that I hadn't known about that process (as well as other errors the CFI had on his report). I discovered this at the final orders hearing when the CFI again brought this up again on the stand. JLG made other serious errors in my case that ended up making me look like a petty and uninvolved parent. I spent many hours and was billed tens of thousands of dollars going over strategies and gathering info/docs for them that they ended up not using. They switched attorneys on me numerous times and I was not supposed to be billed for them getting caught up but was. Additionally I had to keep reiterating things to JLG that they should have known and was billed for it. They wasted a lot of time, made a lot of errors and billed extensively. For 1 mediation, 1 short temp orders hearing (for something my wife requested) and an 8 hour final orders hearing I was charged almost $75k. They didn't even use most of the info provided to them or strategies discussed. JLG was very unresponsive, sloppy and habitually failed to carry out expectations, did not take accountability for their errors but happily charged as much as they could, constantly let me know about things last minute (often when it was too late for me to do anything), neglected to use preferred communication methods, made serious financial errors on my docs to the court and neglected to present things before the court that showed my involvement with my kids and expenses for my kids and home repairs. I would have been better off self representing.

Do not use this law firm. You'll be greatly disappointed and your bank account will drain. Tom Nellesen and Claudia Bailey were mine and my husbands attorney and paralegal. They bill by the hour, to an excessive amount. They'll bill for things that you had no idea about. I got billed for a bunch of things that I didn't agree with, including my attorney rewriting my entire proposal instead of taking a few seconds to just make the edits I suggested. In addition, got billed for continuous "staffings" that the attorney and paralegal had about my case without even notifying me. The charges got SO out of hand that I just had to agree with the co-petitioners motion in order to avoid further legal fees. I was extremely misled by my attorney, who originally stated that my requests could be granted and then later got word that none of my requests would be likely granted In court. $4000 later you tell me this? My attorney didn't listen to me, made incorrect statements as if he didn't even understand what we were telling him. I was sent a drafted proposal to review before my attorney submitted it, I sent an email about suggested edits to help correct inaccurate information, I was told "I'll make these edits and submit". The motion was then submitted WITHOUT those suggested edits. Instead of working with my husband and I and offering some refund for improper billing and poor service, we were just told "that's how we bill, that's our process." I was in communication with Stephanie in management and she's refused to call me back in 2 weeks about this and instead tells my attorney that I've been calling without calling me back, so she clearly knows I've been leaving messages. This law firm made our stressful situation even more stressful. Should have listened to the prior reviews.
