My experience with the Meinzer firm began nearly two years ago on the day after my Dad died, leaving me a convoluted trust document, property, and accounts in California. I was the successor trustee, but I live in Virginia and needed a lot of long-distance support. When I first contacted the Meinzer firm, I was put into direct contact with owner and Principal Attorney, Andrew Meinzer. The free initial phone consultation ran longer than originally offered and Andrew provided rather specific and patiently explained useful information that enabled me to do certain activities on my own, prioritize actions, use recommended strategies for dealing with institutions that held Dad's accounts as well as fully grasp the complexity of the tasks that lay ahead and determine that I would be better off with professional legal assistance--- all without him telling me that I needed to hire his firm. Over the following couple of years, I had detailed and lengthy email exchanges with the legal and para-legal staff at the Meinzer firm. These all featured timely responses and usually gave me options of activities they would perform entirely for me, or which I could take on in order to reduce legal expenses. The Meinzer team kept an eye on the progress of the administration of the trust and their advice was very conservative regarding the risks of certain actions or approaches. They always let me know that the final decisions on matters had to be mine and what the worst-case outcomes of not following their advice could be. They once caught a subtle but potentially significantly impactful error I had made and immediately informed me so that I could quickly correct communications I had sent to beneficiaries. While the final amount that I paid the Meinzer Firm was well above the initial estimate of the cost that was forecast in the initial consult, I never was charged for anything that raised a question in my mind about the fairness of the billing. The office staff was consistently pleasant, competent, and prompt. Overall--- superb help with tricky matters.
