This attorney's advice was to do anything you can to save your marriage. I took that advice after paying a retainer. Little to nothing was done for my case, just a few phone calls. When I explained that we were going to try to work it out I was refunded half of my retainer. $1750 for a few phone calls. Jonathon explained to me in the future if it can't be saved to call him and he would pick up where we left off. I was prepared to pay back half of the retainer and move forward with the case. I called Jonathon back and explained that I would need his services. He then explained that everything needs to start over and raised the price $500 to $4000 for a retainer. He called me back a few times trying to be a nice guy by saying he would make a few phone calls but in the end I'm out a good chuck of money and no legal representation. I'm not asking for anything for free. I was prepared to pay him his retainer in full but $1750 for nothing but less than an hour of time is criminal.

Attorney Jonathan la France did a great job defending me in a civil suit filed by my next-door neighbor in city of Malibu. As I was building my new ocean view home. The next neighbor filed a civil lawsuit to stop me from building my home. My neighbor felt that my house would block a small portion of his view. I had an approved set of plans stamp by the city of Malibu to build. The lawsuit was extraordinarily complex regarding lot lines, surveying, ancient landslides and lot line markers. Special surveyors had to be hired to be mitigate property lines. Mr La France and his team work extremely hard, day and night even weekends to get paperwork filed with the courts on time. I am still lafrance's client of record. I went to lafrance's off on June 16th 2021. When I first met him, my first impression was...wow! This man has a pony tail? I guess he is stuck in the 70s. I still retained him and did not care so much how ridiculous he looked and unprofessional he looked because I was desperate for an attorney to represent me in my divorce. Then, started exalting himself saying...we are the best and we are well-known in Santa Clarita. I was impressed but not knowing how deceiving he really was going to be with me. He got paid $6,000 a retainer and the only thing he ever did for me was answer my emails of two months and he never wrote any proposals regarding my divorce at all. When I asked him questions regarding my divorce and if he had negotiated anything with opposing counsel. He would answered by..."Have you given me everything regarding your divorce "? I was like...what?! I said...I provided everything to you. Are you even reading any of the documents that I had provided to you? I started wondering if he was actually a great attorney as he was claimed to be when we first met in office? Then, one day he sent me an invoice in which it showed that he had deducted $2,165.00 from the $6,000 retainer? I told him that I did not agreed to this? Because the Board of Attorneys especially says that if a client has an issue with the bill, to try to resolve it with the attorney. This is exactly what I did. I told him that I did not agreed that he was deducting $2,165.00 from the $6,000 retainer? Because he was basically charging me for all the emails that I sent him,. He did not do any actual paperwork to help me settle my divorce? Then, he yelled at me over the phone saying that he did not want me to go to his office to pick up all my divorce documents and this way I could go find another attorney? He basically kept my $6,000 retainer without actually doing anything at all? He was very rude towards me and would interrupt me every time I would speak. I told him if he would allow me to speak? He would continue interrupting still. I told him that I lived 35 years of verbal and physical abuse at the hands of my abuser soon to be ex-husband. I read that he has done such great work for others but I think he choses who he really wishes to help but in this case he did not want to help me at all. He only yelled at me over the telephone and called me Paranoid!! And now he is threatening (Retaliating) against me. I reported him to the Board of Attorneys because is not ethical and is an angry man, who pretended to be a nice to me. He would tell me..."I'm a nice guy and you are in good hands. Which it was a complete lie. My complaint against him still pending.

Jonathan Lafrance handled my custody case with complete support and true compassion. He made an extremely difficult time for me so much easier to deal with. He always believed in me and went above and beyond for me. I am so thankful to have found him and his office team! THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!!

This man is horrible at what he does and he only wants your money. He will constantly reschedule court dates and string you along all the while asking for more money. Mind you this is all while you're going through a legal battle that is is very important to you and not important to him. Don't think just because he picks up the phone for you and is willing to console you about your circumstance as evidence that he knows what he's doing. Nothing is more terrifying than seeing your lawyer being made to look like an idiot when he doesn't know what he's talking about to a judge. Save your money and most of all keep you're best interests at heart and stay away from this man and his team, if you care about the well being of yourself and your loved ones that you consider letting he represent.
