Client
Communication is key in family law, and I'm sorry to say, Mr. Castro and his paralegal were just not on top of it. He and his team did not make good on their promise to call back within 1 business day, costing me months and months of wasted time, energy, stress, tears, and money. I cannot begin to express my regrets working with this law firm. Whereas, I firmly believe Mr. Castro is knowledgeable about family law and strategy, and he may even have had good intentions, he most certainly falls short in what can make or break a client's confidence-- communication and consistency, or should I say "common courtesy?" Maybe he's short staff or has too many cases to handle for one guy?? I don't know, but it was awful. There were plenty times that he just "ghosted" me; which was unreasonable and screwed up a lot of things with the case. Several times throughout the 6 months I spent working with him, I had to make multiple follow up phone calls, leave several voice and text messages, and send plenty of emails to get a single response out of him (mostly he just ignored me). By the time I wisened up to look elsewhere for legal counsel, it took him an entire month to sign the substitute of attorney needed for my new attorney to come on board, which further delayed the case. He was snarky about it, too, which was just rude. Between the ex and I, we are in the hole $30k for this divorce; most of which could have been prevented had Mr. Castro communicated properly the desire of the other party and his attorney to settle out of court, to stipulate agreements, and pretty much agree to what I was asking for. I didn't find out until months later that my ex's attorney reached out to Mr. Castro multiple times agreeing and asking for a phone call to mediate. I was forwarded several emails from my ex showing how many times his attorney reached out to Mr. Castro. He ignored the other attorney and me with no explanation. Mr. Castro did not pass this information over to me, causing me to pursue orders that were unnecessary and costly for the case. By the time I spent thousands retaining another attorney to take over, he had the nerve to finally call me back. (Two weeks later, by the way). I have no words. Just disappointed and irritated with how unprofessional Mr. Castro handled everything. Maybe he tried his best (the 2 court filings he managed to turn in, despite being delayed, were done well, hence 2 stars and not 1) but man... this was an utter disaster.
