About 3 years ago, I suffered a serious injury to my knee after falling on a city sidewalk. It was determined that a preventable tripping hazard existed and I filed suit. The injury required surgery and will require on-going professional medical attention. About 2 years into legal proceedings, I suddenly lost my husband of over 20 years to a heart attack. When I was in an accident he was a wealth of knowledge for me as I sat with a mountain of insurance papers in front of me in tears and still traumatized from the accident. Michael Phillips and his assistant Laura Arkin are wonderful, caring people. They were very kind and helpful in advising and doing the legal work necessary to get my disabled nephew the disability payments he needed to be able to live. Because of his disability, my nephew was difficult to work with at times, including being hard to contact and getting to important appointments on time. Michael and Laura went above and beyond to make sure that he got to where he needed to be. They were supportive and patient with him every step of the way. 0 Stars! Very unprofessional an unresponsive. He lied to me on the amount he was going to charge. Mr. Phillips misinformed me about a piece of paper that I signed. He told me he was going to charge me 10% or $2,500 whichever was less. He said the case was a slam dunk. But of course this is not in writing. And now he gets 25%. That is maximum amount Allowed by the law. Mr. Phillips lied to me about this repeatedly throughout this lengthy ordeal. The Social Security Administration gave us the opportunity to do a phone trial several times. Mr. Phillips insisted that we wait for a trial in court . And then we end up doing a phone trial anyway after delaying it. 4 years after I filed for disability . I suspect so he could charge more. During the phone trial he was very disrespectful to the Administrative law judge. Mr. Phillips constantly interrupted and and was insisting on a point that was moot. Mr. Phillips was also unprepared and trying to contact his office to obtain crucial information during the trial. The administrative law judge almost held Mr. Phillips in contempt and warned him several times. I believe we won the trial because of my residual capacity and medical records. The Social Security Administration could not argue these points. The assistant Unresponsive and not returning my calls or Emails in a timely manner. Further delaying the trial as well. She was also lacking knowledge on paperwork the Social Security Administration needed to receive my settlement after the trial. I'm not writing this review because I'm bitter or mad about the amount that I received. I am writing this review because; I was lied to and taken advantage of.
