Client
This is my honest review of CTL, and I hope it will be of help to them and other potential clients. From the date I contacted them and they accepted my case to the date when my case closed was exactly 3 years. This was for a moderately severe and complex two car accident. There were various pros and cons to hiring CTL which I will iterate below. Cons: All along the way, the turnover rate for all levels of staff handling my case was extremely high, and I was rarely to never updated of the changes. This made communication (which I know is typically not great even with the best of law firms) even more disjointed and sparse than it should have been. There were stretches when my emails and calls were ignored for up to 5 months at a time, which was stressful. When I did finally raise a concern or even a slight critique with senior staff, I was met with extreme defensiveness and accusations that I didn't appreciate anything they had done for me (DARVO) -- No accountability was ever taken. During a late and very sensitive stage of my case, the lead attorney on my case was suddenly fired from the firm. This is a major change at a pivotal moment, much more-so than the several prior staffing changes, and it deserved some sort of communication. The attorney himself was the only individual who notified me, and indicated that he was wrongly terminated. I cannot speak much to it as I don't know all of the details, but it struck me as unprofessional at best. The communication with some of my medical providers sometimes lacked along the way, leading to subsequent hold-ups in my treatment, and at times I had to step in and facilitate my access to care. From the date of settlement to the date my case closed was over 13 months. Upon settling, I had been given an approximation of 3-5 months. During this time period, there was barely any communication from them and nearly all of my attempts to communicate were ignored. As for the settlement itself, we finally settled for a fairly decent amount, and while the amount I walked away with in the end was within the range I was initially given, it was at the lowest end of that range. Pros: Several of the individual people who worked on my case along the way were great and very dedicated. Over the three year span of my case Christian (extra thanks for keeping me so updated and informed towards the end of my case!), Shawn, Mehrdod, Anthony, Edan, Lilly, Sharay, and Ruben were the MVPs from where I was sitting and I sincerely appreciate all of their efforts. They put a lot of work and time in to my case, as it wasn't a short nor simple one. And while it did take an especially long time (more staffing changes I was told contributed to this), the team who negotiated my medical bills did an excellent job at lowering their costs. Early on after settlement, they did help me by giving me a couple of advances from my settlement, since it was taking such a long time to close my case. And again, while the total sum I walked away with was at the bottom end of the range, the range was indeed reached and I recognize that. The medical providers they sent me to were for the most part quite good. The chiropractor in particular was fantastic, and the PRP injections I was given temporarily improved my pain and quality of life. Would I hire CTL again over other law firms if I had it to do over again? Maybe. Am I glad I did hire CTL? Yes. Thank you again for all of your help.
