Cohen Law Partners GREAT, especially for cyclists. My story: So I am not the litigious type. I feel like our society's desire to resolve every disagreement with legal action is part of what divides us. That's why, when I was riding my bicycle and someone staring at his cell phone kicked open his door just as I passed, inadvertently sending me flying over it to the ground, and subsequently to the emergency room, I felt like I'd just let his and my insurance companies deal with it. This was not a good plan. My first warning came at the emergency room. An intern there, also a cyclist, told me he had the same attitude when he was "doored" (apparently that is the most common cycling accident) but that the other insurance company tried to cheat him so he had to get a lawyer. Later, when I took my broken bike to the shop (it was totaled), the guys there also told me I would ultimately need a lawyer. Lucky for me, they had cards there from Cohen Law Partners-- (they all had used them and were very pleased). I took the card but still thought I wouldn't need them. Then I got a call from the other guy's insurance company. Shortly after starting to interview me they asked what part of the door I hit. I didn't know, as it all happened so fast, but I asked why that mattered. They said it would allow them to assign blame-- even though the guy who doored me immediately took responsibility. I said goodbye and called Josh Cohen. Josh, also a cyclist, was great. From start to finish he was there with answers and, just as importantly, wise counsel. He understood my reluctance to sue but also let me know how much I was at risk financially. His guidance and follow through allowed me to get reimbursed for all my medical bills (which were much larger than I'd anticipated) along with money for the work I'd missed, physical therapy, and some small compensation for the enormous pain and frustration. He was also a BLAST TO TALK TO. Just a great guy. There came a time, near the end, where we could have gone for more, but I felt the settlement we had was fair and just. Josh and I discussed possible next steps, and he was happy to take them. But he was also happy to consult with me and, listening to my concerns, agreed that, for me, we could stop there. Josh and his firm are just the best; I always felt comfortable and welcome with them, and they really listen. AND they got me a perfect settlement. I'm off now to ride my brand new bike, but if you need a lawyer, you should call Cohen Law Partners.
