Client
I called this firm to request a consultation for emergency representation because I have an active workers' compensation claim for a psychiatric injury. I explained that I am a psych patient and was urgently seeking help after my current attorney attempted to withdraw without resolving a serious privacy breach involving my protected health information. Instead of listening to what happened, the intake person was more focused on the idea that my current firm must be "under attack," and dismissed my concerns. I tried to explain that I had spent 30 days asking my attorneys for a single phone call and an update about the privacy breach, but the intake person continued to interrupt and told me to "just send information." The tone was very dismissive and not trauma-informed at all, especially considering the nature of my injury. When I expressed that I wasn't sure the firm was a good fit because of how I was being spoken to, the intake person said "okay" and hung up on me. For a firm that claims to represent psychiatric injury cases, the lack of compassion and professionalism during a crisis call was extremely disappointing.
