I hired Mr Hamid Solamani as my attorney. The understanding that he would charge $2,000 for sending the first letter to the defense attorney, which I paid in cash. Later, when the case moved toward court, he requested $5,000. I paid him $3,000 cash up front (without receiving a receipt) and agreed to pay the remaining $2,000 after the court appearance. When I later went to his office with questions, he denied ever receiving the $3,000. His secretary confirmed in front of both of us that I had indeed paid, which left him silent. Despite this, he never entered the payment into his records. On the day of court, he did not show up, and my case was dropped. The judge stated he could not work for free--even though I had already paid him $3,000. This left me unrepresented and forced me to find another attorney to clean up the situation.
