As a client with a pending case, I received a strange progress call from someone named "Carlos" who requested I identify myself prior to initiating the conversation with my date of birth and last four of my SSN. I provided my birthday but refused to provide the last four of my SSN due to that I recently have been involved in 2 data breaches. I tried to explain this to him and requested if there was another way to confirm my identity but he talked over me then said goodbye and hung up. In all fairness to the office of Bill LaTour, perhaps this call was not initiated on their end as there was not an identifying name to the phone number so it could have been a phishing call. But, perhaps this call was from the office as there were prompts stating that the call was from the law offices of Bill LaTour and the call would be recorded prior to when this "Carlos" guy started speaking. If this call was official, it's a shame that this "Carlos" doesn't understand my reasons to be very vigilant with my personal information, especially SSN, in this day and age. Moving forward, as a client, I wonder how future communication will occur (or if I'll be dropped!) as I still won't provide the last four of my SSN over the phone.

I was informed that they would not help me They said it, "was strictly a business decision from our firm," and was provided no other information. Might be for the best. If they're flaky now, i'm sure it won't get better.
