Stay away from this law firm! They are the worst of the worst. They only want money and they will keep asking for money and do nothing for you. My wife had an issue with immigration and i came to them. From the moment i walked in, i could tell that this was sketchy. They have a guy named Gabriel who sits near the lobby and he starts telling me how they have helped various clients but after every two statement he makes, he asks me about money and how i want to make a payment. I had not even fully told him about my case and he already wanted $8000 dollars but l paid $5000, they are quick to give you ways of payment like affirm cause all they want is money from you not helping you, was desperate and in a bad position so i found the money but before i gave it to them, i asked Gabriel 3-4 times if the 5000 includes the bail for my wife and he said yes. I paid the money and ever since then, the communication was abysmal, they barely reached out to me. I always had to call, they only went to the facility where my wife is held up once so she can sign to pay the balance not to even discuss with her and get her statement. They only sent in one document that we actually had already sent in which was actually denied cause it had already been filed, I was dismayed and disappointed by how they were handling our case and when i spoke to Gabriel, he proceeded to end the call and stopped picking my calls moving forward as if i'm not allowed to complain about a service that i paid for even if i feel dissatisfied. Finally they were asking me to pay another $10000 on top of the $5000 i had already paid them to get anything else done. It was my worst nightmare. Long story short, i ended up getting a different lawyer who has done more in 3 days than Mayes Telles did in months.

Our experience with attorney Candy Marrufo from the law firm Mayes Telles was extremely disappointing. She represented my husband, Julio Cordova-Wilkins, and filed a direct appeal even though she knew the errors came from his trial attorney, not from the judge or the State. The correct and effective legal process should have been a Post-Conviction Relief (PCR) based on ineffective counsel, but she never explained that to us. We paid a large amount of money -- nearly $30,000 -- trusting that she would be honest and transparent. Instead, her office communication was very poor. Her assistant, Lupita, often took up to five days to respond, and I constantly had to follow up just to get updates. Because of this lack of guidance and poor communication, valuable time was lost, and my husband remains incarcerated for something he did not do. Clients deserve truth, communication, and integrity from their attorney -- not silence and delay. This review is written to warn other families so they don't go through the same experience.
