Attorney Amanda Lewis

I am reposting this because Amanda wouldnt give me my retainer fee back unless I deleted my rating. Well, I think thats cheating other people, and I will not be silenced nor blackmailed. And I absolutely will not watch innocent families that need help from an attorney (usually a pretty dire hour for most) be taken advantage of. This woman is just, awful, to say the very least. She does not return calls or texts, and makes you wonder if she is even going to show up! When she does return texts, its not answering your questions, its mostly "I dont know". Messages that come in at 1am!!! I gave her $3000. She gave me $1500 back and told me she will hold onto the rest, in case the case stays in WV, that way she will still have my money and we can proceed. No problem. Case gets sent to MD. She refuses to return the rest of the owed retainer. She only charged me $350 for one day in court. You mean to tell me $1150 went into writing up a couple documents? Documents that were all misspelled with incorrect punctuation, FOR COURT! I thought she sent me a rough copy. Nope. It was handed to a judge. Keep reading, it gets better. Come court, she is late late late. Court wouldnt even begin without her. When she did show up, what she had on, was not for court, along with Bright blue crazy eye shadow swiped across her face, sweating like crazy. Told me she thinks she has covid and almost didn't even come. WHAT?!?!?!?! The case got pushed to Maryland with absolutely no help from this woman. I actually broke down in court, begging the judge to keep the case in WV. Because this woman couldn't use her words. She was beyond useless. I wound up breaking down and losing it not because of anxiety over the case, but because of her and her lack of everything in the courtroom. I fired her in the courtroom. She has given me at least 6 panic attacks, thinking she isnt showing up, not responding, lack of professionalism, the amount of money I gave her and feeling like she took my money and ran. She may have good reviews for other cases, but her reviews for family court are all terrible. There is a frustrating lack of accountability. I'm nervous even posting this because Idk this lady like that. I had to sit and think about writing this for a hard minute. I decided to post this because I needed her help in an anxiety ridden moment, and all she did was make it worse from start to finish. Ive still been having anxiety over it. I do hope she gets things together and does some damage control, but you cant do this to people and expect them to just be your door mat.

Absolute nightmare. She charged me $1000 for one 15 minute hearing; got her butt handed to her by the judge and opposing counsel. Does not appear to know the family court system and laws. Does not appear to be taken seriously by other attorneys and judges. Does not return phone calls; only communicates occasionally by email. Her home office is a total mess. She had the guts to send me a bill after the fact saying the "clerk of courts said I have to charge you for a filing fee". When I expressed to her how I felt that claim was a total lie, and that I was totally dissatisfied with her services, she proceeded to tell me she now understood why my ex chose to leave me and that I was an unreasonable person, and a terrible father and husband. 100% true story. If I could post the email she sent me on this review stating this I would. You are better off saving your money and going in alone.

She interrupted and angered the judge in court during a custody hearing. The judge yelled at her client. She also discussed private, confidential matters within earshot of the respondent and their lawyer outside of court, potentially negatively impacting another case. She may be OK for others, but her demeanor inside and out of court was detrimental to her client and was unprofessional. Edit to the response: I see her powers of observation are as astute as when we interacted. I said the judge yelled at HER client; meaning my client as well. Amanda Lewis was not my lawyer; we shared a client, as I was a victim's advocate. That means I attended court with our client, and was shocked and disappointed by Ms. Lewis' actions, inside and outside the courtroom. I stand by my initial review.

Ms. Lewis has been a superb attorney. Not only has she taken care of my business, she has continually given me extra advice. She has gone above and beyond. Words are inadequate to describe how I feel about all she has done. Thanks.

I'd like to take a second to commend this office for what I call the absolute best customer service I have ever recieved without giving a dollar. Right now I am handling 3 estates. Yes not good. But unfortantly problems have arrived with my brothers trust and me not being the owner needed legal advice without paying a $250 consult fee. I spent over an hr one day phone with them and atleast 30 minutes next time. They generally care. You will not feel as your a dollar figure like I've felt with a few others in area. Hence the ones that wont talk you go in 250 or 125 fee to talk ughhhh. It's a little unfair to charge a client that and then say no case( for another scenario) So I'd like to commend this business and its entire staff. I do have a case and you will be the only one I pay when its filed. I will seee you very soon. Thank you for helping me believe we do still got good businesses left in our town. May thos business be continually blessed. Many great days of successes await you and your entire establishments.
