Franklin, Denney, Ward & Strosnider PLC

I was referred to FLDR by outside counsel. Unfortunately, the main partners, Mr. Denney and Mr. Ward, have retired but appear to list themselves as active practicing lawyers on the company website. I initially reached out on June 25 via email and followed up on June 27 with another email, as well as a subsequent phone call, after receiving no response. I explained the case details, citing that the case was in Nelson County. This was not an issue at the time. After not hearing back, I had to call the office again on July 2, 2025. The same receptionist was unaware of our prior discussion or the email I had sent outlining the case. Impersonable communication makes you feel more like a number rather than a potential client. The receptionist then relayed the message that the firm does not practice in Nelson County. If this were the case, then the employee should have informed me during the initial phone conversation a week prior. Because of this, I have no other reason than to leave negative feedback in hopes of helping potential clients avoid wasting their time with this firm. I also have a professional background as an Accountant. If the managing partners want to rectify this, they may feel free to reach out.

Madeleine Starbranch is a tenacious and diligent attorney. If you want an attorney who will concede nothing and remain squarely on the offensive, Maddy is decidedly an attorney you can trust. I've had my share of legal dogfights and I wish the attorneys that have taken my prior matters were as competent as she is. Additional context--the matter she is representing me on is a commercial real estate dispute.

Used this law firm for our wills. Nothing special. Tough getting an appointment. The firm has awesome pictures on their walls of old Waynesboro.

They charge $350/hr. My fiance met with the atty for 45 min. to update his Will. They emailed him a draft to review. It did Not reflect what was discussed w/ the atty. He also found out his bill was already over $1000. So he has a bill for $1k and Nothing to show for it. He is on disability, a fixed income, he cant afford to have them Fix the simple Will they cant get right. Understand, attorney "billable hours" does Not work by normal people's understanding of time. There is NO way an atty spent 3.5 hours on a simple Will. None.

Samuel Pender is very professional. Everything was explained in detail but in understandable language. He answered all of our questions and handled some very specific needs for our situation. I highly recommend him for your family law needs, as he delivered very personable advice, and was there for us every step of the way!
