I sold a house this year and the sellers used the company for the closing. Apparently the sellecrs had a legal plan through their employer and this was the attorney they found. A week before the closing, I set up a time with my lawyer to sign all of the paperwork a couple days before closing and they informed the sellers attorney. When I went to sign my paperwork, the sellers attorney had not sent over any of the papers. I signed a power of attorney and several documents with my attorney anyway so that things would go smoothly. On the day of closing, the sellers attorney would not accept the industry standard documents I signed and required me to take time off work to drive to a notary to complete the closing. Then after closing they refused to wire my money unless I agreed to pay they am extra $100 for a wire fee. A standard wire fee is $35 and this expense was not noted in the closing paperwork. I'm not sure if this is even legal, and my attorney was furious, but the sellers attorney wouldn't budge.
