I had a great experience throughout my therapy process. Dr. Mehaffey and his staff were very friendly and helpful. I am going to miss everyone but I am so grateful to be feeling much better.

Dr. Mehaffey takes the time to listen and explains everything in a way that makes you feel confident and informed about your treatment. The level of professionalism, compassion, and expertise here is unmatched. The staff is friendly, the environment is calming, and they genuinely care about your health and progress. If you're in pain or looking for a chiropractor who goes above and beyond for their patients, look no further. I couldn't be happier with Back Pain Institute. This was my first experience with physical therapy, and I received exceptional attention from the very beginning. From the receptionist to Dr. Mehaffey and the entire staff, everyone was incredibly professional and kind. During my evaluations, they listened attentively to my pain and promptly began the treatment process. They made me feel incredibly comfortable and had no issues whatsoever during my time attending.

My Experience at Back Pain Institute of West Texas - Odessa, TX (August 11, 2025) I visited Back Pain Institute of West Texas seeking relief from persistent back pain. While I found Dr. McHaffey personable, my experience unfortunately left me in worse condition than when I arrived. The diagnosis was made within minutes, without any imaging (such as X-rays) to rule out deeper or age-related issues. This made me question the completeness of the evaluation. During treatment, a manual technique similar to Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) was used. This involved using hard tools to apply significant pressure to painful areas, which caused me intense discomfort and left visible bruising. While I understand this method is intended to break up scar tissue, the intensity of its application left me feeling physically drained and in more pain afterward. I was not provided with any documentation summarizing my diagnosis, treatment plan, or follow-up recommendations, which added to my uncertainty about what had been done and what to expect next. Unfortunately, even though I requested intervention in the form of medication to help with sleep, no viable pain management strategies or prescriptions were offered during or after the visit. Over the following days, my pain increased to the point where it interfered with both sleep and work. I'm sharing this to help others make informed decisions. I would encourage the clinic to adopt a more thorough diagnostic process and to improve communication around treatment outcomes and follow-up care. Lastly: A few words about reputation management firms ( google reputation firms and practices) and fake reviews; You may be fooled sometime by lots of good reviews. A common technique is to post fake reviews to hide or obscure negative reviews. You can sometimes Spot these by looking at the number of reviews they have done. If the reviewer only has a couple of reviews this may be a fake review If you found this review helpful, feel free to give it a thumbs-up.

Dr. Mehaffey is the best!! He treats us like family from the very first visit. We highly recommend him!
